10 Things I Love About Mondays

Rate: 12 Flag

1.      The incredible promise of the potential perfect week ahead. As I awake, I may think, “don’t spoil it yet.”

2.      If something does go wrong, there’s a whole week ahead to fix it.

3.      The first sip of coffee in the morning. Mind you, this is true of every day. If we must have addictions they should be ones we enjoy.

4.      The kids off to school, one cranky, one thrilled, balance in this too.

5.      Arriving at work, knowing people have stewed about their troubles for two days, and new challenges await.

6.      All my favourite blogs and websites resume a full schedule of publication.

7.      People, people, people. Coworkers, shop clerks, cranky or irate clients (and the odd happy one too!), people to help, people to share with.

8.      Most Mondays, my older son cooks. I love to cook, but enjoy being cooked for as well.

9.      Chuck, Heroes, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, all if playing, and I know TSCC got shifted to Fridays. Monday seems to be only night I care what’s on TV anymore.

10.   Looking forward to what’s going to happen Tuesday, Wednesday…and so on.

You are very optimistic today. My oldest has a dr. appt this afternoon and I still have to do the dishes... Blech. But I have pigtails, warm babies, and hopefully a large art project to look forward to.
Monday today means I have to go back to school and stop playing here on OS. And I have a monster cold...
Thanks for your upbeat message tho!
Monday means return to OS and well a new week, new prospects.
Monday means I finally cleared out all my mailboxes from various addresses and I feel like we are finally returning to normal after to much time being chopped up.
I love your optimism even as I don't share it! Maybe I'll post this at work to give me a glimmer of hope. I see most weeks as one big panic attack to get through! thanks!
MzEll...call me disturbed (because I am), but I like doing the dishes (and I like pigtails, but not being a pirate, will leave them to you).
O'stephanie... but back to school is its own adventure...you could do us a 10 Things about that?
Moana... new prospects...yummmmy
Damn, your attitude on Mondays is a hell of lot better than mine --- I just sort of put my head down and try to plow through it, and your points 1, 2 and 10 make for a lot better mindset to start the week than my standard @* effing Monday again!
cartouche...why do I have a hard time thinking of you and 'normal in the same comment?

Deborah... instead of "panic attack", how about "great adventure", or, if you are so inclined, "roller coaster ride"? your bonus item would be #11..."because its one day closer to the weekend"
No Monday night football, holiday decorations need to be put away just as I was warming up to the idea of Christmas. Another year. Oh boy.
JPN: well, let's see if I do "10 Things I Love about Friday" or "Another Effing Friday"

Gordon: there's always another holiday around the corner. Are you a cat people? We got our cats a new catnip mouse for christmas, so get to watch them stumble about the house drunkenly...an evil gift that just keeps on giving!
Your optimism is impressive. Personally I don't love anything about Mondays.
This is a positive, happy post. I like it!
Alpha: I guess you'd better declare Monday "new Bourbon testing tasting day" then.

Lea: Thanks. In your footsteps, in your shadow, with half the talent, but all my heart.
Amen to 6 and 7, Brian. What an arbitrary thing the 'week' is! The day cycle, obvious, and the year of course, one trip around the sun; but why seven days in a week? One fourth of the lunar cycle? And then the subdivisions, 5 and 2, each with their own inertia. Odd. Well, having made that fascinating observation...

This is piece is fun. I propose, in the coming week, you write ten things to describe the character of each of those days. Don't forget the weekend!
Rick... thinking about it. Though maybe it should be one per week, so they are fresher ( "10 Things I Hate aboout Tuesday " this week might flow into "I hate the Term 'Hump Day' " to "Who can I piss off Today?"...)

what do people think?
If you love Mondays, you must REALLY love January, the Monday of months.

Since childhood, I have always found Sundays vaguely depressing, and I have no idea why. I like Mondays these days because I no longer have to go into work.
Not that the other numbers aren't convincing. But, as a single parent, I'm with you on #2. Especially after the holidays.
Laurel: I can't even imagine not going to work. The OSing is so much easier from here. January is cool. February is a bitch.

Juliet: Parenting is one of life's crueller pleasures isn't it?
Brian, you know you had me at #3! The rest of my mental commenting has fizzled away -- originally I had planned a whole 10 post back at ya, so I will have to modify it and make it my own for tomorrow. So there -- nyah.
Caro - don't rush, the road runner is still one up on the coyote, as it should be.

sending more prayers your way...
Not a fan of Mondays...particularly after a rare four day weekend. So much crap and deadlines waiting for me.

You are unbelievably upbeat.
I have Mondays off and I have to admit, it lends a strange vibe to the week. It's ingrained in me that Monday is a "gettin down ta bidniz" kind of day. There's something to be said for it, much as it gets slammed.
Suze: don't you at least like the adrenile rush?
DP: as per Rick's suggestionn, I will be doing a Tuesday piece - would love your perspective on that one!
Great post about Mondays. I've never understood why Monday gets a bad rap. I love Mondays, but I'm a bit of a Pollyanna. I pretty much love every day. Thanks for sharing.
How do I love Mondays?
Why, I do believe it's simple after all....
I love Mondays, because once Monday is over and done with, it's only gonna be a hop, skip and jump to Friday ~
the gateway to the WEEKEND!
maryt: if I had a therapist, I'd like one like you
nat: think you missed my point..check out my Friday post
