20 Things I am Good At

Rate: 14 Flag

Accepting Barbra Anne's challenge, even though I am "On the Road", I thought "gee, that sounds like a list for me."

So here goes:

  1. Parenting. No surprise, I bet, to regular followers.
  2. Workity work. I learned this term from CarolineinTO. It has just the perfect sense of sardonic disregard for something I take seriously, though don't discuss on OS, and don't want to treat too seriously. It ain't brain surgery, nor even helping the homeless.
  3. Loving. How does the song go "perhaps I've loved too well?"
  4. Memory. In which case, you'd think I'd recall song lyrics, but everybody says I have a good memory, so I must.
  5. Giving. Again, perhaps too well. But here I'm really thinking of the support I give back to my community.
  6. Procrastinating. I should be working now. Really, I will just as soon as...
  7. Cooking. Nothing fancy, but haven't killed anybody yet.
  8. Ironing. This one's for Cindy Capitani, who called me out on it in my OS interview.
  9. Laundry. Cause what would ironing be without laundry?
  10. Not sweating the small stuff. And its almost all small stuff.
  11. Living in the moment. I can stop cocktail party chatter anytime by not having a "bucket list".
  12. Faith. On mine own terms.
  13. Luck. "13" is one of my few superstitions.
  14. Stimulating the economy. I'm spending as fast as  I can...
  15. Forgiveness. Life's too short to carry a grudge...better to get even now!
  16. Writing. But not typing.
  17. Trivia. See above re the good memory, but random. My cluttered house matches my cluttered brain.
  18. Crying. Real men do.
  19. Smiling.
  20. Positive thinking.  Beats the alternative.

Much better than trying to post 20 Things I am Bad at...

I'd love to read your list...

Always good to affirm ourselves as we face a new day. I hope you have a great Wednesday.
Thanks for sharing, I feel like I know you so much better now! :)
I like this and I like that you didn't berate yourself as we so often do when trying to come up with positive things about ourselves. I agree with your "positive thinking"--your one trait that stands out for me the most.
That's a really nice list. Your "good" things are in the most important areas.
Brian, I love your list! And your oh so lovely positivity. I'm going to think about doing this one myself. (if I can come up with 20 things...I have my doubts...)
I adore number 11...actually they are all wonderful. I may do a list...
thanks all for commenting - that's where I get my need for validation satisfied.
jlynne- 20 was BA's #....do what you can. 20 is nice because its not TOO easy.
today started rough, but featured a great long late lunch with one of my oldest friends.
you know i dont know if ive ever actually ironed anything.. lol

but that is a great list :D
Great list! Okay you probably do more ironing then I do, I send mine away to get done..LOL
writing but not typing?? How interesting and funny..
Yo! let me know if we're all meeting for coffee tomorrow. I'll totally blow off the morning if so - we need at least one Cdn OS meet-up!
wait, did I just type "yo"?

I am so hanging out too much with my 8 year old.
Yo, Caro...maybe you are channelling Rocky? Janie and I did mini Canada meetup today, a day early.
BA-thanks for the inspiration
fireeyes24-glad you stopped by
Brian - I started my list, came up with one thing, then my brain shorted out. It was awful. I haven't recovered yet.
I'm so glad you were able to have that great lunch with a dear friend. Sweet.
That's a great list! (And so inspired was i by your ironing day, that one of the topics for my work blog was "how to iron with or without an iron") ... and I'm totally with you on living in the moment and thinking positively. Bucket list? That's the dumbest concept ever! (and I'd rather iron than see than see that movie!)
j lynne...be persistent...if you can't do 20, do 10. You seem to be a super person, so you need positive self talk. Don't make us come tickle you
cindy: did you do the "pants between the mattress and box spring " trick?
I would leave "memory" off my list!
