In Search of a Title (Old Poem)

Rate: 10 Flag

You picked me up,

and played with me.

Now you've put me down,

and walked away.

I'm just an old guitar

but we made good music,

when you held me close

and strummed me gentle.

I'm just an old guitar,

but that's no reason.

To pick me up,

 and put me down

To play another.

Resentment's Bitter Song

Nice one Brian!
hmmm, can't come up with a title that isn't too smartassed for this lovely poem. I will think on it. I have had way too many guitar players in my life...both literally and in the spirit of this poem. Good one.
jettison blues

(i do like strung along)

nice
The Last Chord for You.
great ideas...sure beat my concept, which was "Old Guitar"... too on the nose, I think.

interestingly, i wrote this in 1978, but it could be about many players since... going through the "archive" is kind of neat that way
I like this, Brian. So easy to see the images, to get the feeling.
hmmm, i'm often good with titles. right off the bat? Stringing Me Along. i'll think on it. lovely work. love lvoe lveo
thanks for the support, carrie & theo....
I don't know about a title but a sweet poem. There's music in the lines.
beautiful in its simplicity
Moana, ashley...yes, I tried to keep it pure.
Brian, I think this is the first post I've read that has some melancholy to it. And it's good to know that even you has your blue moments. Your continual optimism comes so naturally, I'm sure it will return. Thanks for sharing this.
well, maryt, this was written in spring 1978, though I do find myself played regularly,
the key is to keep bouncing back...
I'd call it "Heart Strings." I also see a woman's hour glass figure in the stanzas. Was that intentional? Or is it my imagination?
tai: interesting thought. In thought it looked a bit like the body of a guitar.
interesting suggestion Ashley....but what if I'm fourth hand?
"The perfect fourth" Your neither major or minor, but your perfectly distinguished.
