A Work in Progress. When not doing the devil's work, I'm the single parent of two great young men, living playing and working in beautiful Thunder Bay Ontario. That's at the western end of Lake Superior - the North end of Highway 61. from here, you can just drive all the way to New Orleans, though I have yet to do it.

Happy Halloween, eh?

Rate: 7 Flag

Yes, Virginia, we Canadians DO celebrate Halloween the same night as Murkens do, y'all.  As far as I can discern, there are few if any differences in the traditions - costumes, candy, parties, pumpkins dressed as Jacks O'Lantern...

Tonight in God's Country, it is warmer than normal - a balmy +4 Celsius (about 40 Fairenough)- totally unlike the freezing rain memories of childhoods (mine and my kids'). The weather reports claim there's light rain, but sun is shining in MY window, though the wind is strong enough that a witch might blow past on her broomstick any moment.

I was on the road, so the B boys and their mother (the ex) craved a couple of pumpkins - we'll light one & put it in the front window, the other outside. I bought enough extra candy to last til Easter, even if we get a rush of kids.

As for Halloween memories, alas, my most outstanding one features  The Nice Catholic Girl whose Halloween party is one of the 10 Things I Do Differently, so lets NOT dwell on that- but since its the best story I've got and I've told it before, I'll pass and just wish everyone a Skooktacular Evening!

Have fun. We are having similar weather down here. Very windy. Sounds like the chimney is going to be whisked off the house.

So, what kind of candy did you buy? Enquiring minds want to know.

Enjoy.
Enough candy to last until Easter? Brilliant!

Stay warm up there.
janie - 70 pieces of mixed cabury minis , 26 caramilk, 6 times 90 rockets, one bag of "maynards" chewy treats (mid sized B loves fuzzy peaches), three bags of Reese PB Cups (lil B's faves).

with only 5 trick or treaters, waaaay overbought, even allowing for lunchtome treats.

carrie - was a lovely mild evening, all the stranger that we got so few kids - but we're a one block street off a main drag, so most kids likely stuck to the longer streets on either side...a spooky chuchyard/park at bottom of the hill on our street.
Sounds like a great candy haul. I'm stuck with a bunch of lolly pops since our warm and breezy afternoon turned into a slight drizzle followed by a downpour. Glad to hear you had a good time!
COS: always buy candy you like, that's my motto!
oh, god, i'm all about buying candy i like!! how lovely to have a balmy day. we have the same temperature outside and we consider it cold cold cold. :) love love love
my favorite holiday. no cooking, no cleaning. no gift-buying. just an obligation to buy and eat candy. what's not to love?
