Who was your FIRST prom date? That would be someone I don’t remember the name of, however you can see how utterly delighted I was.
Who was your FIRST love and do you still talk with him? Michael Manhood. I kid you not. He was in Athens, Greece and when we left on Christmas Day 1957, he stopped by the Carleton Hotel, where we stayed before our ship sailed, to say goodbye and give me a corsage. Never heard from him again.
What was your FIRST alcoholic drink? Probably the night I got very drunk on screwdrivers, unless you count a sip of my dad’s beer. I was 14.
What was your FIRST job? Babysitting for $.25 an hour. My first real paycheck job was at a bakery for $1.05 an hour and all the pastry you could eat.
What was your FIRST car? A brown Ford Americana.
Who was the FIRST person to text you today? Nobody, still waiting. Hah!
Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning? My mother. I miss her.
Who was your FIRST grade teacher? Mrs. Breesocker in Belleville, Illinois. She did not keep secrets too well. I told her my mother was going to have a baby...she congratulated my mom when she saw her. I got in so much trouble!
When and where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane? I believe it would have been in 1950, from Tachikawa, Japan to San Antonio, Texas.
Who was your FIRST best friend & do you still talk? My first best friend was my brother Barry, and yes, we do.
Where was your FIRST sleepover? That would have been with my grandfather Smackleface and his third wife.
Who was the FIRST person you talked to today? “No you may not.” To a telephone solicitor asking to speak with me at 7 a.m.
Whose wedding were you in the FIRST time? My friend Anne Payne in Oakland, CA, I was her matron of honor.
What was the FIRST thing you did this morning? Let my dogs outside.
What was the FIRST concert you ever went to? To see Roy Orbison in 1963 in Albuquerque, N.M., (but earlier I remembered Feb. 1968 Janis Joplin at the Fillmore, SF., so had written it first. Sorry for the error in timing.)
FIRST tattoo? None. Plenty of scars which have interesting stories though.
FIRST piercing? My ears, self-pierced in 1965.
FIRST foreign country you've been to? I was born in Japan, but first foreign country after that was Greece.
FIRST movie you remember seeing in the theater? Lawrence of Arabia in a base theater in Albuquerque, NM
FIRST Detention you had? Oh that’s easy, the only one I had was in Hawaii. We had just moved there and I had one suitcase of clothing. I wore a skort and “shorts” were not allowed, so I got a ticket and had to go to a kangaroo court, where they showed me no mercy. (Unless you count the episode of the drunk girl at school where I was suspended.)
What was the FIRST state you lived in? Texas.
If you had three wishes, what would the FIRST one be? As Cher put it, “If I could turn back time...”
What is the FIRST thing you would learn if you had the chance? How to play an instrument, the piano.
