Yesterday I had an “astrologer” give me a reading. Why? I happen to have a spare $25 I wanted to donate to a worthy cause; the 75 year old, who should spend it on a hair dye (or to get a haircut at the absolute minimum) lady from Europe, just trying to make a few bucks on a beautiful sunny day, feet up in a cat fabric covered porch swing that had a price tag of $69 on it. I honestly don’t understand why women continue have long hair long after they cease to care about doing anything with it (and I know there is no guy who loves them with long hair). They let the roots go too long, part it down the middle, wiry gray hairs defying gravity, and it hangs untrimmed and funky. (Maybe she can go to Supercuts now and get some style.)
Anyway, it was a mildly interesting half an hour where she told me some stuff...some of which I knew, and some was kind of eerie/offensive. Since when did Astrology combine numerology, Kabala and a deck of Bicycle playing cards? Things sure have changed since I last had my chart done. She obviously wouldn’t be writing one of those daily columns either. I don’t recall her wearing a qualifying Kabala, Madonna red string on her wrist come to think of it. (Now I am wondering if I got taken...h-m-m.)
First off she drew a tic-tac-toe frame...then used the numbers from my birthdate...and of course I told her I was born in Japan so the time/stars allignments would be different...to which she said, “Oh..now vee do dat ting where if you haf lived here a long time yours will be on dis time.” Oh...I get it, so I shift star alignment or something.
So now I have the top 3 empty, and two 8’s in the second row on the end and a 1 and a 4 in the third row (I forget the placement). “Everyone alive has a 9 in their birthdate, so vee don’t use it.” Brilliant. Except not having anything in the “intelligence” row kinda hurt, if you know what I mean. Oh sure, she tried to make up for it by saying I make decisions with my emotions, my instincts. But truthfully all I heard was, “You didn’t go to college did you?” Kind of tainted everything from that point out, but I digress.
She did say I would be suffering a huge loss...well duh. She said I had been giving for a long time. My God, how does she figure this shit out? She said, “Many people will want to hear what you have to say...in the next four years....” Um-m-m, ”...you’re creative. A communicator.” So I start thinking maybe she should have had my birthday, cause she is not all that good of a communicator, but again I digress. You mean I have been writing for all these years and nobody wanted to listen? I’m crushed.
She did say I would do well financially...in four years. FOUR YEARS? Criminy, I gotta wait Four More Years? I’m, not trying for some Presidential slogan here. Can’t I even have some “Change”? What’s up with the Four Years thing anyway?
Then she told me the Saturn was in my Uranus or something for the past 10 years...funny I never felt it...but apparently many Leos died or were having problems. I suppose this would shuffle me into the latter category, because I think I am still alive. (I need to research how many Leos died compared to say Capricorns or Scorpios.)
By now I’m starting to look at my watch...crap, only 15 minutes has gone by and she keeps saying, “You don’t tink a lot, you just go vit your emotions...but be-e-e careful not to find a lover who needs takink care of. No sick people.” Uh---okay. And she did qualify “sick people” as being mentally ill or physically ill. I’m glad she clarified it, since I don’t think with my non-college educated brain.
As she ran out of flattering things to tell me, she paused, stared deeply into my eyes with her cataract clouds and said, “Now comes zee psychic part. You vant to ask me somefink?”
“Yeah, if you are the psychic how come you don’t already know the question I have for you?”
“Ahhh, you vant to know about the story I wrote from the perspective of Mars then.”
“Huh?”
“Yes, I wrote a story for people who always imagine what Mars is like...where music is quartz...and thoughts are crystals of many colors, and....”
“Gosh, did I mention I had a Tarot card reading I needed to get to?”
Hah, guess I showed her I have a brain! Besides that was a ruse, it was really a past Life Reading...and she calls herself a psychic...tsk-tsk.

I highly recommend you have Liz read your cards.
I'm just sayin'.
Given that I had traveled alone 6,000 miles from Seattle to kick around Greece for a summer, I thought to myself, "Juicy. Didn't know that."
Rated, for being open-minded and having some fun with it.
Obviously, you got taken ... anybody knows you never park your Saturn in Uranus; that's just some shitty advice. Even I know, just based on your birthday, notwithstanding that you were born in Japan (by the way, how's the footbinding working out?), the apex of your Zenith is in line with your RCA, clearly indicating that your antenna is extended, plus your signals are loud, clear and microwavable. Therefore, go forth and be omni-perfect. And no more card games, OK? Not with that broad; she's play'n with a short deck. 8>) And I give you all that for only $10.
“Oh..now vee do dat ting where if you haf lived here a long time yours will be on dis time.” Oh...I get it, so I shift star alignment or something."
Who knew you had such power? You must be like a super hero or something. I can only hope you'll use those powers for good and not evil! ;-)
And for only $19.95
And if you act now, I'll throw in the new RonCo Veg-O-Matic, FREE! You pay only shipping.
My grandson's birthday is 06/08/2008 so Madame Whatsername is wrong on everyone having a '9' for a start. Not that he's quite ready for a reading yet.
I'm sorry Saturn is in your Uranus - extremely painful I'd hazard, but then as a fellow Leo maybe I have the same problem and this is why we have such crap going on. Preferable state to other Leos I gather.
There's a lot of charletons out there who are only after your money, but I'm still soft enough to believe there are true Mediums who work with the spirit world. Usually for free. Love you lots.
Next time you go to one of these people ask them a really important question like the results of the next week's football games. Now that's news you can use!

Great post, my dear. You are a jewel. Love you!
;)

Sheila: "... it was really a past Life Reading...and she calls herself a psychic...tsk-tsk. "
Man, I so wish I'd been your sidekick in that psychedelic past life of yours! You certainly prove to be a brilliant light-show in this one!

It sounds like she wasn't much of a "real deal" which means that your money was spent on the entertainment value. If you weren't even entertained, then you were gypped. Plain and simple.
That is a unusual name, but it turns out you are actually the thrid person I have heard with it. Now you got a yen to go to a astrologer, or psychic. Which could be any one in particular, if you were going to an actual astrologer, one I would hope who would have credentials, you would be paying a considerable fee. Depending on what particulars you were looking for in your chart. A natal chart would tell you some simple things, which can be pretty impressive. Such as your rising sign, then where the moon was at the time and place of birth, and as well as your major planets and pre-ponderances of plantets in the chart houses, or planets they go through.
There is a mid-heaven, and 4 signs that also are air, earth, fire and water, that show where you might have the most energy being put into. Those things may be even be countering your very strong Leo sign.
Leos for the better part are quite bossy, if not very bossy, but I have dealt with different types. The first type is very General Patton, most Leos are proud of the association. They wear their general stripes proudly for all to see, they know who the big shot is, and it's "them", not you. That is important stuff for the Leo, they take their pride seriously, don't hurt their pride.
Another Leo trait, it is a fire sign, it is a fixed sign, they don't like being told what to do, as they are natural bosses, and leaders. Your rivals don't like that in you, but who cares, it's you that calls the shots, (or at least that is what you would like most to believe). You are not always fair, as it your way or the high way. You are bright to asssert your point of view, but not to arbitrate, you are too proud to express such personal views, you like principle.
Rules impress Leos, they make good lawyers, you don't like to argue with these people unless you are prepared to lose. Leos are known for being slightly dogmatic.
Another Leo trait is being stingy, they work hard for what they have and don't find it necessary to part with it, and further more people should work for what they have.
Leos are flattering and need lots of attention, they flourish at partys, remember it represents the hottest planent in all the horoscopes it is the sun. They are exhalted and need worship, they love to be the center, as is the sun, they love to be the center of attention. Even when nobody else is adulating them, they are adulating themselves.
They enjoy cooking as this is a natural form of using the warmth and fire in a enjoyable way. They are fun loving, and fierce competitors, they enjoy staying on the top, financial wise, being they are shrewed and enjoy looking for bargains, they are quick to point out other ways, in which to make sure people need their services, be insurance, or other financial insturments, the Leo is careful of what is going on, so with that energy they can lead business and invest in sure fire ways to slow but sure growth.
They enjoy being free most of the time, but when Leo decides to bear down and start to enjoy a family, they are fiercely devoted and happy candiates, but if they feel caged in, or that their freedom is at stake, the Leo is sure to look to roam and be free.
Leos want and need reassurance that their oppinion is first, if you can make that person feel that they are first, they will be your friend for life.
*By the way if you are wondering what my resources are for this knowledge, I have been into astrology from a very young age, I have some books, I used to have more. But I am of religious nature, and choose other means to predict what I can do better with out, what is matter of the great unknown. Some things in my eyes, are better unknown anyway. Some psychics can take emotional advantage of such situations, I would easily say be weary and enjoy being a Leo, a wise expression is, that a Leo seldom seeks such advice.
When I was going to Western Washington University, I went with a friend to San Francisco during spring break to visit a friend of hers for a few days. Before we went, we were sitting in the Student Union one day talking about the trip, and wondering what we could do for entertainment while we were there. We had also been talking about Sylvia Brown, the famous TV psychic.
A guy sitting at the next table overheard us and said that if we were into that sort of thing, we should go see an astrologer he knew who lived in the Bay area. We jumped on the idea, because we're both into stuff like that. He gave my friend the phone number so she could make an appointment ahead of time. For some reason, I still remember that the astrologer went by one name, Landis.
When she called the astrologer, she gave him her date, place, and time of birth, and also that of her brother. She made the appointment and we went to see him our second day in SF. What my friend hadn't told the astrologer, and hadn't mentioned that day in the Student Union, was that her brother had died of a cocaine overdose a few years previously. He had done a Len Bias, dropping dead from heart failure the first time he tried it.
The astrologer was a very gentle person, kind and good-natured, and lighthearted in manner. He welcomed us into his beautiful, sparsely furnished little apartment and offered us tea. He was so clear-eyed and seemed unusually calm and quiet; I liked him and liked being around him.
He did her chart, and was very accurate and had lots of insight and really encouraging and positive things to say. He said she was building a path for herself, going in an unexpected direction, and that she would find great success within a few years. She had grown up in a poor family and was attending college and had recently decided to go to medical school at Stanford, and she had not told him anything about that.
She liked the reading. Then he did her brother's chart, after asking if she thought her brother would be okay with that. She said yes, and he went through the major points, highlights of his life, comments on his personality traits, etc., then he came to a point in the timeline and paused for a long time. He then said he thought one day in particular had been very hard for her brother, that there had been a significant change and a profound effect from it, and that the chart was unreadable from that point on. My friend said, "That was the day he died." I remember the guy looked at her with so much compassion and said, "I didn't want to say it."
I forgot. Funny, crazy.
I was very healthy and would live a long life.
There was a dark haired man with dark eyes who wanted to talk to me about work difficulties. What are the odds that a middle-aged woman would know such a person?
the ranting boomer--I think my memory column was empy too.
Verbal R--I think I have blown my whole entertainment allowance for the month...but maybe next month!

Ginny Rose--I did it for fun and to kill some spare time on a Sunday afternoon.
Sirenita Lake--Saturn must be small, didn’t feel a thing! I’ve had some good readings, this just wasn’t one.
madcelt--she billed herself as an astrologer, the psychic bit was a bonus!
DeliaBlack--Thanks, I appreciate it!
Theodora L’Engle Knight--Yeah, I am grumpy, but if it makes you laugh...can’t be all bad!!! Thanks.
Rod Emmons--You know I love ya man...and didn’t need some psychic to tell me.

AtHomePilgrim--That's gotta come with a written guarantee though.
Bill S.--I’m seriously considering it!
Lisa Solod Warren--That’s horrible. An astrologer isn’t quite the same, and this one was barely functioning.
Lunchlady--I think people put too much value on this stuff...I see it merely as entertainment. Thanks for the compliment.
Linda Cooper--Good point on the 9’s...she got me there. Well, when I need he spirit world I shall ask you for references.

john blumenthal--wonder why I have this urge to answer you with an emoticon? Thanks!
Skip Williamson--Huh, must be a birth defect!
OEsheepdog--Sure it was. Probably not going to do it again, but it was my Sunday.
LizEmrich--I understand, and truly I only did it because I felt kind of sorry for her, nobody was going for it and I had nothing going on. I was thoroughly entertained, thanks.
MOMSACOMIC--Thanks for the Leo info...and yes, I am being “...very weary and enjoying being a Leo.” I appreciate your stopping by!
wschantz--Yep, I bet so.
Gwendolyn Glover--Thanks, I am sure I did...well worth the fun!
Umbrellakenisis- I was only there for the astrological reading...or so I thought! What a weird thing to have happen...though I did have a psychic reading once with a boyfriend who was told he would take a trip by water. He broke his neck diving into a pool and died. I often wonder if they knew, but didn’t want to say.
iamsurly--no wonder you hide behind the madwoman thingy,
Deborah Young--I know, I was too. Pretty amazing stuff.

You have a great haircut. You are very nice. You should buy that thing you hesitated in buying. And feel free to take an extra muffin. You only live once.
hee hee ;) see? I'm goooood.
