There are few things like going to visit Mom, and when my husband said it was time to visit his I was ready. I had already met his mother over Mother's Day weekend last year and remember the lack surprise at how similar she and my mother's decorating style was.
Walking in her front door was a true de ja vu experience. I suppose it was comforting on many levels, it sure made meeting her much easier.
This year it was going to be a little different, we'd buy her an iPad and I would show her how to use it. We had a special purpose!
The flight was fun (as fun as flying is these days). I took pictures as we flew and was loving the view from above.

I love the curvature of the earth in this one.
Humidity was making itself known.
The shadows clouds make.

I was reminded often I had to sit up straight.

Must be getting close to Houston now.

Oh yeah, urban sprawl.
Just about to land.
About an hour later we are in the driveway.

Mother and son reunion!
Soon it was time to begin the trip back home. There wasn't much time there, but we did get to go have Texas Bar-B-Que, and the iPad mission was complete, even if not 100% satisfactory. There are Windows People and a comfort level with it even I couldn't overcome.

Heading home two days later.
Snow in the mountains above CA as we approach the airport.
I'd been wanting to go to Catalina on the boat for more than a year. Fourth of July weekend I looked at the upcoming ten day weather forecast and it was going to be great sailing. "We're going to Catalina!!"

On Wed. I drove down to Marina Del Rey so we could take off on Thursday.

After leaving Thursday morning and sailing a few hours we approached the Catalina coastline. The white rock is "Bird Rock", for obvious reasons.
Soon it was time for my big day...snorkeling! Time to suit up!

First Paul gets ready.
Then I pop up ready!
The water is a little chilly...
Hey...there are fish under there!

I'm sure the fish saw us this way!

This is our home and transportation.
A sunset in Catalina is magical.
On the way home this scene seems a fitting ending!

Pleased you're getting out and about and hope it helps relieve other pressures. Lovely photos and video. Love you.
To think, I just bought a land locked trailer in a campground. I probably could have bought a sailboat instead. I had forgotten about seeing the world once more.
That video really made me think I was out on that boat with you. How do those seals sleep with that bell clanging all the time? ;-)

There is a special fondness in my heart for any sailor type. : )
I found you by way of bobbot.
Happy birthday!
