Me on the tractor-sold-with-the-house-in-the-background, and the roof with black mold that has to go. Spring 2010.
I spent a lot of yesterday being sick and working on my "sold" house. I also spent quite a bit of time on OS, adding the rumored demise of OS to my top ten "things to worry about."
I am learning to reframe my top ten worries to the top ten things to be grateful for:
1. I am grateful for the community of OS where I enjoy excellent writing and intelligent thought. (Worry? OS will die.)
2. I am grateful that I have a steady income without a full time job. (Worry? Unemployment.)
3. I am grateful that I have a roof over my head until they replace it next week because of the black mold. (Worry? Replacing the roof?!?)
4. I am grateful that I am well, as long as I stay out of the range of the black mold. (Worry? Why am I sick every morning?)
5. I am grateful that I have a little cabin to retreat to when the mold is making me sick. (Worry? Moving to a tiny house)
6. I am grateful that a really nice young horse family whom I just met 30 minutes ago when they came to get a water sample to be tested at the University is buying my house and will be my neighbors. (Worry? All the details it takes to move and get the house sold)
7. I am grateful for my daughter Natalie who is comparatively healthy and working on getting her own place. (Worry? Natalie is 29 & lives at home)
8. I am grateful for my other two daughters, Mandi and Cassie, who came home from Minneapolis to celebrate Thanksgiving. (Worry? Holidays and families not wanting to get together)
9. I am grateful for Julie, Steve, Robin and all of their families who have taken me in a treated me like one of their own. I could not have better friends. (Worry? Being alone as I age)
10. I am grateful for the Holiday Season, with its theme of Peace on Earth. I am grateful to be living each day, so that I may work on bringing peace to myself and the world, loving unconditionally, living unconditionally. (What, me worry?)
There is tremendous power in words. Words create and frame our world. Words make our holograms of reality. Words are magic.
May your words bring you peace.
