My New Gig

Rate: 28 Flag

I wouldn't quit my day job for it if I had one, but I do have a paid writing gig now. I'm the Seattle Motorcycle Travel Examiner for Examiner.com.

I just posted my first article today if you want to check it out.

They are short, fluffy posts, 2-400 words max.

Chcck it out if you get bored.

Hey, and you all thought I was dead or something...
That is a great road. There is a potter who has their shop along SR 20, Sauk Mountain Pottery, is just north of Concrete and makes some wonderful mountain themed pots.

Congrats on the new column. A gig is a gig!
Only the good die young Cap so I figured you were still suckin' air.
Confreakingglatulations!
Awesome! I'm the Miami Performing Arts Examiner and JRDog is a the Charlotte Spiritual Growth Examiner. See how us OSers get around??? :)
That is really excellent. I'm so glad for you.
Right on, Cap'n!
So weird...I was thinking about you this morning & wondering where you've been.
Congratulations on the new gig!
very cool. I read and offer my congrats. I know someone else who writes there.~R~
Aren't you dead? I read it on the bathroom wall!! ;)

Congrats my friend!!!
I live a few miles from Anacortes and Mount Vernon, which are major stops on SR20. Yes, it's a great, well-engineered highway, and the bridge next to the Swinomish Casino is a trip to cross! You feel like you're up in the clouds, and the view is awesome.
Hey... spotted_mind and I were both wondering where you'd been. I'm THRILLED about the new writing job. All hail and well met. Or... all Mets and hail well. I always get them mixed up. Don't forget about the small folk now that you're famous.

And published.
Congrats!

(thumbified with a YAY!)
Nice! Checked it out - good job. Glad you're not dead or something...
Suppose I read it because I WANTED to, Ha!
Good for you. Does it pay better than AdSense?

capn! its REALLY something! congratulations!

and a nice read, too.
Yay!!! And could you really do a 2 word article?
Will this interfere with your pirating gig, Matey?
Maybe you could write about my favorite biking route -- my driveway.
Kidding aside, congrats.
This is so awesome! Congratulations. I enjoyed the column. Perfect length. The better writers know that less is more. I'm happy for you.
Congratulations, Cap'n!
This is just great stuff, Cap! Good for you!!!
Very cool Captain P. You are officially a professional writer! How does it feel? Think of it as beer money!

I look forward to read your column even though I would not ever do the motorcycle thing myself (danger danger danger). I get that it's a lot of fun though!
Ride On Cap'n!! Can I borrow a ten spot? I'll gladly pay you Tuesday!
R~
Congrats, Cap'n. I used to be the Orlando Motorcycle Examiner and I had a ball. It was a great opportunity to write anything I wanted to write about motorcycles. Whether you make a dollar or not, that's not so bad.

Have fun, ride often, try not to post stories with your iPhone while you are still in traffic. You don't need that kind of news coverage.
"The local revenue enhancement officers are said to have a special interest in speeding motorcycles."

This wouldn't be where one Cap'n ParrotDead got a speeding ticket last spring, now would it?

Anyway, good for you, Cappy. I'm glad to have been right ... and I'm glad to see you back here.

That's awesome, Cap'n. Congrats!
Congrats on the new gig and thanks for the inspiration for my latest post about motorcycling!
Very cool! I'll keep an eye out for you!
"short and fluffy???" You can do that? ;)

Congrats cappie. Couldn't happen to a nicer biker.
Wow, you guys are the best. I'm overwhelmed at the response here and at Examiner.com. Thanks to you guys, I've doubled the Seattle average for hits with my first post!

Thank you all for your support.
Congrats - I was thrilled when my first submission to a magazine was bought back in January. As things stand now it won't run until Jan. '10. It was dropped back in the spring.
Congratulations, Dave! How fun that must be to write for pay!
