Finding Happiness in a Teapot

The Teapot

1) Found a blog that a) I read for over an hour without realizing it; b) forced me to laugh that ugly, real laugh; c) made me smarter (I'm sure of it).

2) Cleaned the house from tip to toe which a) is not really my style; b) made me feel inwardly spic and span; c) allowed me to find both things I had been looking for and things I never, never wanted to see.

3) Purchased a polka dot teapot and a) felt perverse satisfaction in the rhyme; b) made tea in it forthwith; c) was transported back to childhood by that whimsical piece of pottery.

4) Encountered a homeless man who had constructed a teetering can sculpture that caused me to a) become unable to remove the idiotic smile from my face; b) ask him about his inspiration; c) have a soda when I got home--there's something to that advertising thing.

5) Came up with the idea for this post while a) sitting in my clean apartment feeling strangely accomplished after my adventures; b) letting a funny sequence from the blog I discovered orbit in my head; c) sipping tea from my polka dot pot.

Where can I get one of those...
Your musings are delightful and I will buy that teapot in a heartbeat if I find it even though I drink coffee._r
I'm a lover of teapots. And I'm a lover of whimsy, and those moments when we realize what a gift it is to be of this world. well done.
I wish I could appreciate your teapot, but my husband makes ours as he is a ceramic artist. But I like the polka dots.
This was (a) not a multiple choice test; (b) an interesting format; (c) absolutely delightful.
An example of serendipitous string theory. **laughs that ugly, real laugh**
I love hearing someone "laugh that ugly, real laugh" and I really like your teapot! Interesting post, Caroline.
I looked at the blog...and it did not want to make me clean my house. How come?
I'm drawn to teapots as well. They seem so cheerfully purposeful - something I long to be!
I'm hanging here... what was the blog address?
Jeff: it just sounded better to me

Moana: I dunno. I found at a flea market. good luck finding what you're looking for teapot-wise

Joan: coffee in a polka dot tea pot might be interesting

fingerlakeswanderer: I'm a big fan of whimsy

a woman somewhere: sounds fair to me

AtHomePilgrim: why, thank you

Matt: I'm glad to hear your ugly, real laugh

Little Kate: it's rare that I really hear one.

snarkychaser: not sure. maybe it was just time

Bellwether: there is something cheerfully purposeful about them

I keep a lot of pot in a polka dot pot I bought. huh?
I knew happiness was in a teapot... but the world keeps looking in all the wrong places.
A Girl
with a polka dot
teapot
having thoughts
on the spot
laughing a lot

it's little serendipitous rhymes that bring us back to the simplicity of childhood!
Love your morning musings and the polka dot pot! Having tea right now.
Job well done Caroline, as usual. And you can rest in the knowledge you certainly know how to elicit a response....Super stuff. I see product placement or affiliate programs in your future. You could get a woman somewhere's husband to make a teapot for moana, cut you in on the deal and all are happy.

Im just sayin...
Reminds me of the yellow, polka-dot bikini, in a teapot.
Teas is truly nectar of the Gods--- a sweet teapot to put it in, and you have a pretty good Friday!
I collect tea pots. Yours makes me smile and wish that it were in my collection. :)
Enjoying the journey, no matter the simplicity of the pleasures. A nice thing... as C.K. Dexter Haven might say.
Sounds like you travelled on the Road of Serendipity and found a polka dot teapot. R
Well I'll have to go checkout that blog - because my house needs cleaning.
D Art: sounds about right

Amanda: they should just check the pot

Anne Cameron: gotta love that simplicity of childhood

anna1liese: hope you had a nice pot to drink it from

jack: making money off my teapot post is just a very funny idea

Elisa: oh boy, am I an ugly crier

Just Thinking: and some good nectar it was

Lisa: I should start collecting

Caracalla: I, too, favor the cozy hominess of a teapot. I liked the visuals in "The Wrestler" too. Also, I always like your recommendations and I love Altman, so I just added "Quintet" to the old queue. thanks for that.

Gwool: enjoying the journey is all we have

Trudge: that's just what I did

trilogy: so does mine…already
Having just done some major housework, I so know the satisfied feeling of enjoying the results!
That spotted tea pot is adorable. Makes me want to go make tea, myself.

Shiral, I love that little pot. Thanks for reading.
I love the way this comes together, and I've never seen a poem like it. Well played.
Yawp, thanks so much!
caroline, that is a pretty neat teapot. one that i would have felt severe compulsion to purchase. i think it's the dots. yep...it's the dots!

and to the blog, these lines made me chuckle so much...
"There are those babies, you know — those tiny babies with the enormous bird-hands. There is nothing the matter with them. They are just not very pretty.

Chelsea… What sort of name is that? Oh, hello, my name is SoHo"
Renatta: yeah, I was a fan of the bird hand comment as well.
A fond hello from fellow caffeine junky. rated!
Adrian: Caffeine lovers of the world, unite!
