There are ghosts & knowing this comforts me
A few are strengthened by millions of praying people
Millions of longing, hopeful people
Joining in, I let the live, pulsing energy of so many prayers seep into me
Sometimes I doubt, wonder about god, all that
But there are ghosts
Murmuring
Watching
Suggesting
I believe this more than I believe that I am alone
A few are personal--related, connected, guiding me
Loving me
Reaching out, I let the live pulsing energy seep into me
So much love

Those who have died have never left
The dead are not under the earth
They are in the rustling trees
They are in the groaning woods
They are in the crying grass
They are in the moaning rocks
The dead are not under the earth
Those who have died have never left
The dead have a pact with the living
They are in the woman’s breast
They are in the wailing child
They are with us in the home
They are with us in the crowd
The dead have a pact with the living

I love most of all that everything I write and do and say...is about them, too. Because the nudge me all the time. And put thoughts in my head. Dreams in my head.
I love that. I love them. They love ME, most of all. Which...is why they stop by.
love,
Amanda Marie
I liked your thoughts very much!
Anyway, SophieH, I love the lyrics. Will have to check out the song--thank you for showing this to me!
Not at all, Trilogy? Thank you for your kind comment.
good point, anne. I don't try to access that part of me either. The "few who are strengthened" I was referring to are the saints--my favorite part of catholicism.
keka, I love your comment! what a gift that you can be so aware of them...
how true, pilgrim, thank you for commenting
Hey Amanda Marie, I'm glad you liked it & you like them, even if you don't believe
Me too sweetfeet
I'll be checking that out sally, thank you for commenting!
I believe we experience it differently, once aware.
sohpieh's mention of Sweet Honey drives the point home the further.
It also has made me want a new copy of the album I used to listen to that had the song she mentions on it.
Love this poem.
So rated!
