I have a flu/cold or something...

Rate: 20 Flag

This appeared originally on the Huffington Post, in honor of my hypochondria. But I have a real cold or flu or whatever right now, and been spending all my time sipping soup or blowing my "dose."

So I'm reposting it in honor of everyone out there who is suffering the same.

Get well soon. I just got through a bad bout of the flu. I had bone-cracking fever. It was awful. I'm still not at 100%, but the fever's gone.
to all those suffering like me with the stuffy nose, etc., get well soon, too! thanks! :)
Does reading these help prevent ToonFlu? I feel inoculated.
The last 2 weeks I struggled with the viral villain. I wish you well.
Add whiskey and you've got a toddy I could go for!
Hi Carolita! Just wanted to share with you and fellow snot sufferers my newly discovered incredible remedy: OIL OF OREGANO. It really works!

First, swish a solution of cayenne pepper dissolved in warm water around your mouth, if you can, hold it for 30 seconds under your tongue. Swallow. Then place 2-3 drops of essential oil of oregano under said tongue. Hold. Swallow. Two nights ago it cut my cold symptoms in their tracks and gave me my first night free of allergy related asthma for a week.

I also smell beguilingly like a good pizza.

Yesterday morning I repeated the remedy, and twice more through the day. I have some nasal symptoms, but nothing like the three-box of tissues a day kind of stuff I usually go through. I'm pretty sure I got the bug just as it was setting in, and I don't know if it would have been as effective with the full blown body fluid running down the face type of thing.

The cayenne pepper treatment is a known vaso-dilator trick which helps herbs and medicines get into the blood stream quick. It's also a natural anti bacterial.

I have it, too, but don't have any new remedies to offer. Your cartoons gave me a laugh, and I love your drawing. (I think I've seen that pole-licking guy on the El!)
Love your cartoons!
Kim chi never hurt, either! cayenne pepper, yes, and the non-alcoholic garlic toddy mentioned above too. But nothing beats plenty of sleep and chicken soup. And lots of eucalyptus tea. LOTS. Eucalyptus is actually excreted through the respiratory system, and cleans it out and soothes as it goes through. If you take enough of it, the inside of your nose will smell like eucalyptus! I'm nearly better!
Rated, in hopes that you will soon feel well enough to draw a cartoon of this 61-year-old harmless fossil getting sweet-talked into accepting a "preventative" flu shot "for your own good and in your own best interests" by her satanic MD's evil little minions. Within 24 hours, I was lead-headed and muckle-mouthed and feverishly imagining that every bone in my body was being systematically broken by unseen demonic hands. As soon as I'm able to stand upright again and head for the outer door (instead of trying to get outside by opening the refrigerator, as I've several times caught myself doing) I intend to wheeze and nasally-drip my way to that medical den of iniquity -- whereupon I shall sneeze my pox upon them all.
Sorry about the cold/flu, but fun comic! (It has to have been the pole perv.)

Hey! I got mine on Viral Finnair back and forth from Russia.
Oh, I feel your pain. Going on two weeks now...I wish someone would invent nasal tampons.....
Your cartoons are great! Please keep them coming. Hope you feel better.
I've got one too. I blame working in a hospital. The entire building is a disease vector. Chicken soup!
I have a great recipe for anyone too sick to make their own chicken soup: "Winter soup"
3 leeks
1 large onion (or 2 small ones)
two large potatos (or four small ones)

cut all into 1 inch chunks
cover with water, and then some in a large saucepan/pot
cook covered till it boils, then uncover and turn down flame to low/medium for ten minutes (or less, if you like your leeks greener).
It's ready when the potatoes are soft enough to eat.

Ladel it into bowl(s), add a small slab of butter, salt and crushed pepper, and eat.
The key is adding the seasoning to the bowl, not the entire soup.

Makes the whole house smell yummy, and tastes great. Can be done from start to finish in 20 to 30 minutes. And it's cheap! And good for you!
Sniff. Runny eyes here, and raspy throat, too. Been through a box of tissues and two cups of chicken soup this evening. On my way up to bed, I checked in to OS, saw your cartoons, and believe it or not, I feel SO MUCH BETTER! Thanks! And do more, please!

I too have a code - which I tried to convince myself yesterday was allergies due to A. huge wind on Saturday - just wicked and dusty; and, B. cleaning out the garage all day on said Saturday, all the dust coming in and latching onto all the mildew hidden beneath.

But today, waking up just as bad, I must say I have a code.

Gonna try the cayenne + oregano tonight. I'll let you know if it works.

Meantime, keep 'tooning! You're really quite wonderful!
Stupid sister's kid.

Wait, I don't have a sister!! Who gave me mine? :-(
