The Million(th) Post March Has Ended!

Rate: 44 Flag

Well, we did it.  The millionth post appeared on Open Salon last night at 11:31 pm.  Amidst all the speculation and against all possible odds (on a weekend, no less), the post was written by an actual member and not some spam bot!

A recycled member (I’m not sure what his username was before this incarnation), bachelorpod’s (new) blog explores the bachelor lifestyle with his interest in interiors.  It’s nice to get inside a man’s head once in awhile.

The post that got the 1 millionth seal of approval stamp is (aptly) titled, “Don’t Get Married, Son”.

I couldn’t agree with him more.

Go read his post and offer him your congratulations!  Beating out the spam bots on a holiday weekend is an accomplishment in and of itself.

What a way to start the new year.  2011 may not end up being so bad after all.

UPDATE:  lschmoopie was first runner-up with post # 999999 and bachelorpod managed to hit the daily double by posting #1,000,001.

Take that, spam bots!

Happy New Year!

Whew, that was a relief. I was beginning to cave under the pressure.

Nice piece. Did ya burn it? ;-)
cartouche, did you read all of them?
did anyone see Social Network? Im reminded of that scene where justin timberlake as sean parker giddily announces 1M members to the cyber-serfs sweating away who dont even get cubes. which shortly thereafter is a scene with his downfall. oh nevermind. R for naive enthusiasm, wink
Stunning upset. The Live Streaming crowd must be wondering what hit them.
Didn't John Philip Sousa compose The Million(th) Post March?
Great news..what an accomplishment for all of us. All this information and pouring out of thoughts in the blogisphere. Seemingly only a few short years ago, when everyone still left notes for each other, because we did not have cel phones.
Wow! Who'd a thunk?! Love the painting!
Happy New Year!
Hahaha! Wow! Thank you for the mention, Cartouche! Here's to a Happy New Year to all bachelors, bachelorettes — and, um, everyone else too!
Great painting and thanks for the report!
"It’s nice to get inside a man’s head once in awhile."

Yeah, but you don't want inside my head, ever!! Teeheehe!! What?

:D
That painting is good. Hoo rah for the millionth post.
Woo, Hoo! How do you know such things? You were also on top of the 1 millionth comment which was priceless !
It is good to read about real humans beating the bots for a change.
the claim needs an asterisk that says something like:

*does not include the 267,422 posts for the
stupid "watch football" spam.
Thanks for sharing this nice piece of info. I guess 3 million would be the next good bench mark, being the next prime number. Indeed lets all eat , drink and not marry.
Your image has an in-your-face Jenny Holzer feel to it. Do you channel her, ever?
I still do not know how you do this.
it is unfathomable.

You know how many of those 1 million posts were more worthy of an EP than this one? All but about a couple dozen. Good grief.

This place has been subjective and biased toward sentimentality almost from the beginning, and that's fine I suppose (unless you are a hapless stockholder, in which case you are SOL). Of recent however it really seems like not even a pretext of objectivity about anything other than the mostly predictable musings (there's a gem here and there, don't get me wrong) of a select group of mostly female posters discussing issues from the female perspective--I'm being kind--has even been attempted with luke warm enthusiasm.

So far as I can tell--and admittedly I don't spend the time here I used to for obvious reasons--virtually the same topics and many of the same authors, such as the one who wrote this post, get preeminent placement day after day, so much so that writers on here rather than crafting brilliant prose about their passions thereby orchestrating the diversity liberals are supposed to revere but in reality don't really give two shits about, have apparently been tailoring their content to the whims of the OS editorial board.

That's very sad, and probably will be the death knell for this place soon. No wonder it's been in precipitous decline.

Like another poster alluded to, might it not have been prudent to make the actual 1 millionth post the EP. I have examined this article in depth, and as approximate and relative to the Zeitgeist as it appears, it's qualities of redemption seem to be most palliative to those whose jobs on here are justifiably hanging by a proverbial thread.
Great! I'll check it out!
HOORAY!! I read a commented on that post, which is rare for me lately!
"It’s nice to get inside a man’s head once in awhile."

;-)
i'm thinking that there may be some integration between you and O'R. This was either really funny or I'm still a little "happy" from too much celebrating that 2010 is over. :)

Double EP's????? You rock (and so does the painting).
Excellent. There is hope.
Oh, come on now. TWO editors picks on the same day! Under two different names. Patricia, give the rest of us a break, teacher's pet.
I would think there might be a little more appreciation extended to the spam-bots for helping OS get to a million posts.

And for inspiring such classics as "The Last Time I Cooked for Bendan Bendan".

Just sayin'.
What an impossible choice--cartouche or O'Really? But of course your gorgeous artwork will get me every time!
One MILLION posts! Wow. Congrats OS and bachelorpod!!
REALLY! I've been away for a few and I missed this! Whooopeeeeee! We're rockin' it, huh?
