• "There's no question that we

told WaPo
• Palin agrees - “Our opponent
is someone who sees America as
imperfect enough to pal around
with terrorists who target their
own country,”
• Palin elaborates to Kristol,
" To tell you the truth, Bill, I
don't know why [Rev Wright]
isn't discussed more, because
those were appalling things that
that pastor had said about our
great country"
• Palin forgets McCain expressly

-- Karl Rove has Obama with 273 electoral votes to McCain’s 163, with 102 votes remaining as a toss-up. The real numbers are slightly higher in reality based communities
-- Don't worry, it's just nerves: McCain's course correction reflects a growing case of nerves within his high command as the electoral map has shifted significantly in Obama's favor in the past two weeks.
" It's a dangerous road, but we have no choice," a top McCain strategist told the Daily News. "If we keep talking about the economic crisis, we're going to lose."
-- McCain on Health Insurance: From The Plank at TNR - "First McCain said he would elimine the entire tax deduction for health insurance, in order to pay for his new tax credit. This would have paid for itself, but it would have done so by raising taxes on a lot of people.
Then McCain decided he was keeping part of the deduction after all. While he would be raising taxes on a very few people, he'd be lowering them for most. Of course, that would also have meant running much bigger deficits.
Now McCain is saying, no, no, he's not going to increase the deficit with his health care plan. Instead, he's going to pay for it by cutting Medicare and Medicaid--which, at the levels he's discussing, might seriously weaken the program.
-- She's Baaaack!: The FT reports that Tina Brown (formerly of Tatler, formerly of Vanity Fair, formerly of the New Yorker, formerly of Talk, etc, etc) has crawled between the sheets with Barry Diller's money this time with a new web site that finally "cuts through the noise and cuts through the clutter.”
--- Called The Daily Beast it gives the world what we have been clamoring for "Curated news aggregation". Sounds as appealing as soy milk.
--- "Her foray into internet publishing, which she admits was “terra incognita” before she started work on the site in July, comes as many online outlets are seeing the same pressures on advertising revenues as have weighed on print publications." May we suggest Tippem?
