After Finals Loss Dallas, LeBron James Lashes Out at Fans

Rate: 6 Flag

For NBA fans, the event is known as simply The Decision. In July 2010, LeBron James decided to play for the Miami Heat. On a ESPN telecast, James said "I'm going to take my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat." That decision and the manner in which it was handled engendered a tidal wave of fan animosity against LeBron James.

On Sunday, after losing the Game 6 and the NBA Championship to the Dallas Mavericks, LeBron James lashed out at his detractors:

"...  all the people that were rooting on me to fail, at the end of the day, they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today," James said. "They have the same personal problems they had today. I'm going to continue to live the way I want to live and continue to do the things that I want to do with me and my family and be happy with that.

"They can get a few days or a few months or whatever the case may be on being happy about not only myself, but the Miami Heat not accomplishing their goal. But they have to get back to the real world at some point.""

That post-game approach will not help James with his relationship with many basketball fans. After a disappointing performance in Game 6 may not have been the most appropriate time for James to focus on criticism that has followed him for almost a year.

In the Game 6 loss [ Dallas 105 - Miami 95 ], James had a plus/minus rating of -24, which is the lowest rating for any player in that game. James had 21 points with 6 turn-overs in forty minutes of playing time.

James' many fans may excuse his response as a reaction to a disappointing championship loss. However, these public relations gaffes continue to follow LeBron James. These recent comments will reach NBA Commissioner David Stern quickly. As Dallas was celebrating its first NBA Championship was a poor timing for LeBron James to admonish some basketball fans. LeBron James soon may have a discussion with someone from Commission Stern's office about public relations with basketball fans.

The Mavs victory was a triumph of character over talent. Some day Lebron may come to truly appreciate his blessings, but it won't be today.
That last half was disappointing. The Heat didn't seem to be playing as if their basketball lives depended on it. This post season just seemed to go on and on. I'm glad basketball is over for now.
Rooting for a team from Dallas is typically impossible for me, but he made it easy. Dude needs to man up. He should have been apologizing to Miami, not chastising Cleveland.
Now I can actually comment on something here. I saw the picture of his face like it was a death in the family. He took the loss very personally and said he was to blame.

I think that celebrity messes with people's heads.
He was a young kid with a mother hooked on crack that had a mans body and was an instant millionaire. I think he will learn in the future. I hope!
I bet this season has been a rude experience for Lebron. Probably for the first time in his life, he isn't being praised by everyone. Judging from his post-series reaction, it doesn't sound like he's going to be doing a bit of reflection on his own behavior.
This is what happens when someone goes right from high school to the height of success without having to grow up or adjust to the normal adult world. Everyone here keeps saying they hope he gets perspective soon. When? How?
