Bio
Where do you start with something like this. I'm your typical white male. I'm married, for the third time. I have 9 kids and 4 grandchildren. Currently I'm an OTR truck driver. I've been doing it for the past year and a half, but I've had several careers. This one is just the latest. In the past I've tried selling cars. That didn't last long. I should say it didn't take me very long to figure out that I'm to honest to sell cars. I've spent lots of years in the restaurant business. Most of that was in the pizza business either as a manager for other or for myself. I also spent 8 years in the Air Force working in ER's and flying Aeromedical Evacuation. I have to say, the biggest mistake I've ever made was getting out. Anything else you want to know, just ask. I'll tell you.

First float pictures as they roll out

Rate: 6 Flag

Your action news reporter is on the spot to scoop the first pictures of the parade floats for the upcoming inauguration of President Obama.

I have just learned that there are only 7 at this location.  They are in the process of being moved down to 4th by the Air and Space Museum for final assembly for the parade tomorrow.

The first is from Illinois.  It featurs a replica of the statehouse in Springfield.  On the sides it shows the state seal, tree, butter fly, slogan, and featurs Wrigley Field in the center of the 5 displays.

On the deck is a tractor in the middle of the green field with the state house.

Here is the first.

Next we have Delaware.

As you can see it features their being the 1st state and the scroll with a clearly visable "We The People".  Along the side is again the state tree, flower and highlights from around the state.

This is from the state of Hawaii.  I sorry but this is one that is going to require some on site finishing.   All you can see is the basic portion of the mobile unit.

This float also need some final touches.  As you can see it's a large, waving American Flag

This float is from the USO in support of our troops.  As you can see sitting on the front is a top piece for the carrage.

Finally, we have a truck with two smaller units on it.  One features the The home of Joe Biden the other features the home state of Obama.    Sorry, they are pieces for final assembly.

For a little fun, I was to move into my unloading spot.  For a few minutes I was used to block the road while the final bits of equipment were staged.

When it was my turn to move, I was given my final directions.  I could hit any piece of equipment, any car, I could even run over an employee, just don't hit a float.  What pressure.  To be know as the guy who destroyed the parade.

Nice job with the pictures Harold!!
OK, this is a little freaky, but I was there at about this same time and took about the same images. What time was your drop off? Might I have seen the mysterious catnlion and not have even known?
You are kidding me, right? I missed you?
I dropped at Hargrove. I got there at about 0200. The pictures were done at about 0730. I unloaded and left at 1600.

What were you doing there? Were you in one of the cars? Could you have been one of the people I was told I could run over . I'm the truck they used to block the road while they finished staging the last of the service trucks.

If you look in the last picture buy the center line you can see my hood mirrors where I took the last one through the windshield.

If I had only known.
You know how you would have spotted me. I was the guy wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

I wasn't going to be out of the truck for more than a minute or two at a time so I didn't put on my sweats when I got out. If you are going to drive 10 hours a day, it's more comfortable, except that in the winter months everybody looks at you funny.

:)
Hey, I just noticed my picture on the cover.

First OS, next I'll be on the cover of the Rolling Stone. (If you understand that one, you're showing your age)
Could you have been one of the people I was told I could run over .

ok, that is freakin' hilarious! thanks for the preview shots - you guys rock!
