Still figuring things out

RepubliCare

Rate: 3 Flag

... Wipes out your life savings (or denies you the ability to save in the first place) if you get sick

... Leaves you bankrupt AND still sick

... Denies you the ability to see the doctor you need but can't afford

... Keeps you in a crappy job you hate because you NEED the insurance it provides

... Keeps the rich healthy and the poor sick

... Rations in the worst possible way: ability to pay, not need

... Cripples our businesses by promoting an unequal playing field against their competition

... Lets your insurance decide how you get treated instead of your doctor and you

We can come up with pithy slogans to shout back. The only people that should be in favor of the current system are the insurance companies themselves and those who never get sick or injured or know anyone who gets sick or injured. Oh, and the Republicans who just want to get into power and don't care that our damn system is broken. It is FAR from the best in the world.

I hope the people that rail against it remember that it is ObamaCare helping them when they are getting the preventative care that they need to keep healthy--even when they lose their jobs. Oh that's right, they only believe that "welfare moms" and all of those other terms they come up with apply to "others" who use those services and not to them. When they need them, they are just "down on their luck."

The system is broken. Screw bi-partisanship. It never got the Democrats or the people that voted for them anything that they wanted when the Republicans were in power. I am TIRED of politics as usual (Dems lying down and rolling over so the Repubs can kick them).

FIX THE DAMNED SYSTEM. DO IT RIGHT.

Preach it! We really, really need to fix the system. It's so f-ed up. BTW, how are you feeling?
I am a ton better thanks to three long talks: one with the friend that I have known the longest, and the other two with fantastic friends that I have only made in the last couple of months. I really needed those (thanks J,J,C!). It is hard for this independent, long-term caretaker to let others take care of me, even when I need it.

My FIL is still hanging on, but it won't be long. I am so thankful that I got to say goodbye to him.
