Here is a video report from a Southern California TV station, which includes an interview with Peggi. She is now traveling back to the US and will arrive home on Monday.

Received the email below Friday morning from my colleague & friend, Peggi, who was staying in the Oberoi Trident Hotel, seized by terrorists on Wed:
I'm free.
I asked Terri to send my full email to the group.
Here it is:
It has been a harrowing two days.
First know that I am SAFE.
Our group has been moved to the Four Seasons Hotel and I am back on internet.
4 of our group were injured, 1 seriously. All will recover.
2 of our group died. We are all terribly saddened by the loss.
Lisa, my roommate and I, were in our room with the door bolted and pillows under the door the entire time. It was beyond terrifying, with all the automatic weapons and bombs going off, day in and day out. We are so thankful to be out and alive. We were rescued by the commandos and then walked down the wet stairs from the 15th floor to the ground.
We were met by the hotel staff and the American Embassy, then taken by bus, once we were all together, to the Four Seasons, which is far away from the New Oberoi.
I got my computer and my purse. My luggage is still in the room and perhaps may be reunited with me.
At this time, I don't care.
I had sent a huge box DHL half an hour before the terrorists arrived.
Who knows if it will make it to the US.
I'm thankful to be alive.
Please forward to anyone you think wants to know about me.
Love you all.
I'm scheduled to arrive home on Tuesday morning. feel free to email and then come visit if you wish on Wed.
More later,
Peggi

Much to be thankful for, much to be saddened by. Good luck.
I will update as I learn more from her. I imagine she has her hands full with debriefings, travel arrangements and just plain decompensating from the non-stress of the past 72 hours.
BTW, What was the group she was traveling with?
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this, and around the implications for our future.
I have no Earthly use for George W. Bush, and feel his methods of fighting terrorism made us less safe rather than more so. But how best to fight people ruthless enough to do what the terrorists in Mumbai did? Terrorism is a fact of our world, much as I wish it were not. I don't think macho posturing is the way, but neither is failing to fight those who seek to harm us.
I fear it is only a matter of time before there is another serious terrorist attack on United States soil.
it is a relief to hear from one of those who escaped.
Not my post, but Rose, I think your snarky comments are grossly inappropriate, insensitive and judgmental.
