Six-Word Memoirs

Rate: 4 Flag

Leonard Lopate hosted an interesting segment on his talk show here in NYC today: what's your six-word memoir?  How would you sum up your life in six words?  Listeners challenged to capture their existence in this very short form came up with some vivid examples:

  • Hippie Van, Government Man, Retirement Fan
  • Lazy mornings, Sunday Times, Then: Kids
  • Anxious heart, but love brings stillness
  • Drunk miserable sober happy joyous free
  • city girl living in surburban hell
  • wish i could get it right
  • Arrived early. Hope to leave late.
  • I haven't figured it out yet
  • GOAL: Ballplayer  CURRENT STATUS: Unemployed shortstop
So what's yours?  Must admit I've been trolling this over since hearing the show yesterday and have yet to settle on something.  Maybe it'll emerge during a long run this morning ...

... okay, 8 miles of hills over the past hour and here's what I've come up with:

Much given, much expected, some delivered.

A decent man's descent and ascent.
Mine is a reheat and serve comment. A couple of weeks ago another blogger made a similar post. Six-word memoirs are interesting title writing or headline writing exercises.
