By now most of us have probably seen Jon Stewart's interview with Jim Cramer, but if you have not seen it yet you should watch it now. I was up early this morning and saw Jim Cramer on Morning Joe. Cramer seemed to be trying to rebrand himself as a "sane" financial advisor. In responding to Joe's question about The Daily Show interview, Cramer went to far as to claim that Stewart's criticisms amounted to an ad hominem attack. To me it looks like Stewart pointed out how the channel - including Cramer - got a lot of stuff wrong and failed exercise their critical faculties when reporting on buisness and financial news. That's hardly an ad hominem attack, which occurs when we reject a conclusion as false because of some perceived negative characteristic of the person offering the conclusion. So, it looks to me as if Cramer mischaracterized Stewart's criticisms - just after a discussion of straw man fallacies no less! To me, it looks like Cramer is trying to spin it. But, what do you think?
