The fire burned throughout the night,
consuming all, within it's sight.
The planet simmered, hot and boiling,
rocks exploding, lava roiling.
Underneath this molten mass
of melted iron and caustic gas,
a change occured, amongst this potion
that set a whole new wheel in motion

The planet turned and started rolling
as if a bell had started tolling.
The mixture had become just right
to pluck this planet from the night.
And so it spun along it's path
and then, as if to quench it's wrath
a wind arose and cooled some crust,
and water filled what wasn't dust.

and from the mist a thing arose,
opposable thumbs and unwebbed toes.
But only God could have conspired
to make a band... Earth, Wind, and Fire.
With a special shout out to scanner. Without his help on how to put up video, this video would have stayed buried deep within the fiery bowels of the World Wide Web.

Too late for the element competition but tough nooggies. Just wish the idea had come to me earlier.
I had to check to see how far back they go, and it was 1970 when they put out their first album. Incroyable.
Shit. I'm old. That was FORTY flippin' years ago. I'm going back to bed.
Badump pa!
Scanner... The good times I've had with EW&F as the accompaniment would fill a book. Well... maybe a paperback. See what happens when you help people out? Post a video of your dancing. If only ABBA had know, they'd have written Dancing King instead of Dancing Queen.
How about an ode to Roller Disco using Boogie Wonderland?
;-)
Poetry was very nicely done and with a darned good meter over all. Extra points for using the word "roiling." Great job.
The EW&F video was great, if for no other reason than to hear Philip Bailey sing the harmony to the tune once again.
Rated and appreciated.
Spotted... Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by. Roller Disco was an ode unto itself. I could never do it justice.
N.Jordan... You're right about scanner. I am not the sharpest pencil in cup, and he led me through the process in under a month! Nice to meet you.
Dennis... My poetry is world renowned for it's sketchiness. The Opposable thumbs line challenges the tongue. I did that on purpose. Ya... that's it... on purpose. Thanks for the nice comment. Their sound is hard to beat.
But thanks. I lost this thing twice before I got the video right. So it morphed dramatically. One day I'll learn to save stuff as I write it.
I will have to check out the Atwood and Winterson pieces. Thanks for dropping by, and your kind words.
