Signs in Buenos Aires

Rate: 5 Flag

For the time being, I will take a break from regaling you with tales of my fabulous art career in Buenos Aires to show some photos. I have long been interested in signs, and I love taking pics of good or interesting ones. And there are a ton of good ones in Buenos Aires. Here are a few that I like. You folks can probably come up with your own captions.

Wish I was feeling clever enough to add some titles or captions, but I do like them, particularly the last one.
Vendetta gift? What kind of gift would that be??? The last one is my favorite, too. The first two I just think are kind of odd.
A Vendetta gift could be a "hit." Or the means to accomplish same.. a gun, a knife, like that. 20% Off All Car Bombs for 3rd Generation Vendettas! (Then go next door to get duded up for the funeral).

The second one is their version of Victoria's Secret. Or Fredricks of Hollywood. Right?

The last one is just plain creepy. Little kiddies and men's shoes... or am I missing something?
Yeah, the second one is clearly a victoria's secret knockoff. But I like the idea of a "sweet victorian." Especially one that dresses like that. The last one is a shoe store for little kids. "Pague Menos" means Pay Less. It's still a creepy sign though.
Hahahah!! You´ve been in the neighbourhood of Abasto! The area with all the signs is Once, and you can see the most bizarre combinations of names in English and Spanish, mainly because many people here don´t know the meaning of words, but they like the way they sound... It´s fantastic for me to see my city through your eyes! By the way, is ArteBA open on 25th May? Because I was planning to visit the exhibition on that day (it´s a holiday in Argentina)
Keep posting about Buenos Aires!
Besos from Buenos Aires,
Marcela
Marcella, I believe arteBA is open Monday, but you can check out their (kind of confusing) website at arteba.org My drawings are in booth J88 (Appetite).

Indeed the neighborhood is Once. I'm living right there! I know the signs in English are like that because lots of people don't know English that well, just like signs and products in lots of countries. The Japanese are especially skilled at this. Even the English get confused sometimes...anyone care for some "spotted dick"?
