I, too, am new to OS. I have 5 posts one of which received no comments so it must have been a real stinker. It was just a piece of silliness and, obviously, didn't appeal to some of the more serious minded writers here. But that's OK. You throw it out there and hope someone who is "in your tribe" catches it before, as Cindy says, you disappear into the ether.
I'm not a flowery writer but prefer to express my thoughts as concisely and, I hope, as entertainingly as possible. So, if I can do it anybody can. Glad you took the leap!

Coffeegyrl, you ought to write something for your friends at least - I for instance am very interested to know about who you are, what your views on life are etc, because you had commented on my first blog post here and I had been so happy but I have been waiting and realized that unless somebody reminded you to you probably would forget to come and write a post altogether. Hope you do a post now - btw I live alone too, why don't write about what it is like living alone in your country?

Just jump in. It's hard to say what will get comments. I posted a long essay that took days to write and got nothing. Before that I posted a couple of photos with just a paragraph of text and it made the cover page with lots of comments! Who knows, just write what you like and see what happens.

Come into the light. Welcome! Don't get fixated on numbers of comments or getting EPs and covers. It's a little like love, if you seek it too fervently you won't find it, just express yourself and enjoy the great writers here and let the words flow from your fingers when the tank is full.
