- I am a Family Physician and mom. I live and work in SW Pennsylvania. Over the past few years I have had several serious health problems of my own and found myself on the other side of the stethoscope, so to speak. I feel this has given me new insight and improved my ability to communicate with and relate to my patients.

Steeler football! I was fortunate to have the foresight to buy
tickets to the AFC Championship game back in December long before
anyone knew it would be in Pittsburgh. That game and that weekend
was magical!!!

RECOVERY
Two days after I was discharged from the
hospital I was back at the office doing paperwork. I wasn't
"working" per se--that wouldn't come for another couple of
weeks--but I felt the need to go and review letters, labs, and
other test results. The following day, my husband and I… Read full post »
Pivotal Event, Part 2
Darkness . . . . . . . . Gradually a low beeping noise, and hushed voices. I gradually became aware of my surroundings.
"She's waking up." Someone observed, as my eyes fluttered opened and tried to focus on the people around the room. I could tell instantly that I was… Read full post »
Pivotal Event
I died on August 17, 2005.
Three weeks earlier, after months of strange symptoms (none of which were chest pain), I was diagnosed by cardiac catheterization as having vasospastic angina and placed on diltiazem, a medicine that was meant to keep my arteries dialated. I spent the next few weeks symptom… Read full post »
