My son, a superhero of many talents, is Speed Boy, Aqua A!dan, the Incredibly Little Hulk, the Trampoline Tyrant, or Martial Artist With Very Little Discipline or Training, depending on the superhero occasion. He and his sister Dangerg!rl were transfixed by the Olympic Opening Ceremonies: The drums, the martial arts, the people flying around on wires, everything right up to the part with all the parading and flag-waving. I'm down on the flag-waving part, too. Where do these kids get this stuff?
We ate red/white/blue bomb pops in a rare show of Action Academy patriotism, and I put the kids to bed before the lighting of the torch (can I get an Amen for the invention of the DVR?). More on watching the Olympics with my kids later, as events unfold.
For now, this:
Men's and Women's BMX Supercross makes its Olympic debut this year on August 20 and 21, and we'll be glued to the TV. I predict this is going to be the highlight of the Olympics over here at Action Academy this time around. Iron A!dan, aka BMX Boy, learned to ride a bike without training wheels in the Spring and is now officially training for the BMX Supercross event in... let's say... the 2020 Olympic Games. See you there!

• So much is focused on US athletes where coverage provided by other countries focus on many more athletes from around the world.
• How many times are we going to hear, “that was a performance of a lifetime.”?
• I can’t stand when we are brought back from a commercial break only to have the Bob Costas speak for a minute about ‘the next event’, and then break back to a commercial.
• Way too much commentary overall, show us an event already!
Thanks for allowing me to vent.
