"You either have one very lucky little daughter, or one very lucky gay partner."

– Cashier lady at SuperTarget, as I was checking out with a cart full of pink and magenta party plates and plastic silverware, a pink tablecloth, pink balloons, the purple doll's salon chair and accompanying doll my daughter asked for as a birthday present, a bouquet of pink and purple flowers, and various other party supplies, most of them pink, purple, or magenta, per my daughter's request.

More about Dangerg!rl's 4th birthday later, because I'm dying to show off the pictures of the custom purple skateboard I had made up for her but I'm too party-pooped to upload them from my camera now.

Luv it when those salesladies are sassy (in a fun way). I'm impressed with the level of retail banter in Denver. Who knew?
That's great! It's so wonderful when an awake person can just come at you when not expected. Dangerg!rl sounds like she had one heck of a 4th birthday. Can't wait to hear more about the skateboard.
Only four and the gender straight jacket tightens.
Easy there, Behind Blue Eyes: She also asked for a purple *skateboard* for her birthday, and she's the toughest and most daring little girl in the world. I've mentioned we call her Dangerg!rl, no? I think a 4-year old girl who spends most of her life trying valiantly to keep up with her big brother is entitled to one day in a tiara bathed in the brilliant glow of pink and purple if she asks for it, but if it makes you feel better about the gender straightjacket, I could also point out that she insisted on giving all her guests gift bags with purple necklaces and fruit flavored Lip Smackers, and her brother and the two boys she invited to the party were positively delighted about it.
Just as long as those boys leave the necklaces and lip fruits at home. I'm sure you know what they would endure if they didn't. The straight jackets come in pretty blue and pink for both genders.

My little sister worked all summer mowing yards when we were eight and ten to save for a yellow skate board. It was the early 70s. The guys hated that she could keep up.
I want to see that skateboard. Sounds like Dangerg!rl had a great time.
