Hah! This was amazing, especially the flying leaps. What a squirrel won't do for a bowl full of peanuts! Not so smart to eat that candy bar under a parked car, though ;)
I remember seeing that program on PBS a while back. The presenter wore this absolutely awful kelly green sweater. But squirrels are an amazingly intelligent lot. The whole program shows how many tries it took them to figure it out. I don't remember the bit about the candy bar machine though. Where the hell is a trained squirrel when your Reeses is precariously leaning over on the glass but refusing to fall?
Thanks for the noodge, merwoman! I'd seen it before but that led me to OTHER squirrelly goodness on youtube, and I can now say I've invested THAT 20 minutes of my life wisely. Awwwwww! :-)
love it! esp bc squirrels have been living in my freaking house rent-free forever, prob doing all those things now, i hear them up there...leaping about
Hilarious. I'm just grateful my parents never thought to set up a course like that. They just settled for training the squirrels to knock on the window for peanuts.
Laughing in the afternoon is good for the soul. Thanks lady. Especially since my recollection of squirrels back in the Bronx were nasty, maggoty things that distorts my view of them to this day. This one was cute.

Was gonna change the tagline though, from Lincoln's to a select few words from Obama's Inaugural speech.... Wonder if he'd do that too???
