Stop Smiling is this wonderful magazine I've been hooked up with for a couple years now.
I couldn't figure out how to insert a doc or a .pdf or any damn thing into email, so I'll post this for/to the Chicagoans who might be able to attend:

I hope you can read the pertinent details above; I tried to link in the downloadable file, but failed.

I'm Very fond of Stop Smiling. They've featured just about every person/genre I'm crazy about... jazz, Altman, H.S. Thompson (fanTAStic), Politics, the Wackness, Studs T, Elmore Leonard, writerly writers, non writerly writers, art, music, hiphop, the blues, sports, Chicago, NY, LA, SF, America....
Take this piece from last month:
The Power of Plausible Thinking
Talking Political Smack with Bill Adair of PolitiFact.com

And: They have cheap subscriptions; great gift packs; and out of the blue will send you a poster... or a Cd... or, more perversely, a 45!
Go AHEAD, check them out. Insert a word in their Search box. I defy you to come up empty-handed.

Still it looks like a great place to explore. Thanks for the pointer!

love love love and gratitude for this new site
Thumbed.
I can quite easily imagine an abstract Steadman-esque character dancing behind the camera, juggling all manner of mind-expanding pharmaceuticals as Thompson chuckles suspiciously.
Too weird to live...
