Ayuh! Coming into K.C. the second weekend in September!

Come on down to Westport, we'll be eating, drinking and smoking.

And talking about y'all.
Awesome! Very, very cool.
Now I wanna' go to Kansas City. Spent the first two years of college there -- it's fun to see these pictures and remember those days.
Very cool! I love Canada.
I've been there only once, to interview a Playmate when I worked for Playboy. The town was attractive too.

Great pix. I want to go back without the... distraction. Rated.
If you find some crazy little women there, how about getting me one?
Johnny B: I can guarantee no distractions. Unless I take my top off, and then yer all done.

Bill B: wtf? A Buckeye daring to diss my beloved KC??? Or a former Brown but now Raaven? A bipolar fan?

Canadians: Sorry; no disrespect intended.

{Canadien français: Je regrette. Je suis désolé !}
It's gonna be a riot Connie. I'll make sure we have some Arthur Bryant's for Saturday night, and any other KC specialities I can think of.
Just jokin'. I was thinking, "I love BBQ", but thought it might sound funny if I pretended Kansas were Canada. I know it's really Mexico. That's what makes it funny.
I thought you were going to do your Wilbert Harrison imitation. Rated for great photos and for saying Ayuh in a post about KC. Must be the downeast part of KC.
I’m w/Ms. JK. What the...WHAT?...is up w/those birdies on the lawn.
Kansas City needs some Connie Mack! Great photo selection but what a shot of the yardcock on the lawn of the Nelson Art Gallery!
This town ain't half bad all in all.......
Hey Girl!! Lets meet for lunch or dinner. I will email you... KC is a blast to hang out in.. Can't wait til you are here.
BBQ, Palins and booze...oh my!
Sounds....dangerously fun.
Eagerly await the photographic evidence,
@deepcleav (love your name, btw): My daddy's turning 80 that weekend. We're having a family (big family) fried chicken + tato salad + baked beans, etc. dinner/birthday party Friday night. Then me and my teenagers will come stay in the Big City Sat./Sund. We're going to a play, K.C. Rep, Sunday night!

Saturday night is the big Palinesqe dramatique blowout. I made sure to get a hotel walking distance to Westport!

And I, too, adore a beautiful steak. They're much easier to come by in Kansas, Ive found. When we cook them at Mom's, you only need a butter knife or -- well, or you're not at Mom's!
Fire : Yes, we must get together! Write! I'll write back! Saturday night is the "planned" party/get together.
Billy B: I knew you were kidding. And I know there's not much else for someone in Ohio to do. I offer you a deep and abiding understanding.
JK/DavidD: a the lawncock -
(you can read about them here:http://www.nelson-atkins.org/art/Exhibitions/Shuttlecocks/index.cfm)
- okay, that's an art installation in front of the Nelson-Atkins museum, a museum I have a long-felt fondness for, since I saw my first "significant" art there.

Growing up outside Topeka, the only art I saw (which was pretty awesome in a scary way) were these Huge murals in the Statehouse/Capitol building of John Brown, intimately involved in his big, bloody raids, pre/during the Civil War.

But at the Nelson, I first saw "The Scream" ; some Rodin; some John Singer Sargeant; Western illuminists; the work of Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans; and the murals of our homeboy - Thomas Hart Benton. In short - it's my first love.
[[[lordy, I do natter on don't I? I canNot get here enough of late, feel constantly guilty for same, so try to compensate by talking as fast as I can and just getting it ALL out]]]
I've never been there except passing through on a train. Looks like fun! So what's with the giant badminton set?
I grew up there. Love it still. So nice to see those pics. and to see it celebrated! thank you.
Yay! Hope you have a great time!
If I'm free that weekend, do you mind if I join? I also have another OS friend who lives here in KC and might want to join. Is there a limit on numbers?
Patricia:

Heck, no! I'm staying with teens near Westport. That is both the good and the bad (ha).

We haven't tightened anything up yet, but I think the most logical thing to do is meet someplace in Westport and have a meal and some cocktails (or not), and just chat. I don't have the time or wherewithal to really Plan something. Just play it loose.

I think that will take place Sat. night. Also free Sunday day, till 5 or 6 p.m.
Here's my post about the Nelson and something about those big shuttlecocks:

any city with giant badminton birdies is okay with me.
don't forget the steaks!
oh, connie mack, this is excellent! i'm sure that nana and trig will be there with bells on. is that where your people live? i'm through with all my mental carpitude, thank god. please read my most recent post, if you can. i apologize for launching any of the assholishness at you. can't remember if i did but i probably did. i'm back to the Me of Me now and it's such a huge relief. lvoe lvoe loev and gratitude and i want incriminating photos of all OS people who show up!!
Wow. I thought you were getting to Kansas by way of Tokyo when I saw that second shot... then I realized it was a collage. Whew.
great pics. Never been there. Love the one witht he big birdie.

Connie,

Quite appropriate that you chose the double city...
As you are probably aware, the double souls are on their way
quite soon...after a little bit of housecleaning..
Kansas City, Here I come!
They got some crazy little men there...
I wanna get me one!

Have some dry rubbed ribs for me!
The worst humidity I ever encountered in the lower 48 was not in Florida or Louisiana but in KC. I walked off the bus and I was immediately blinded by sweat pouring into my eyes. Still, a crazy city.
I keep trying to get outta here and then I say, just one more. Connie, thanks so much for coming by my blog. I might not have found you otherwise. This has been one enjoyable read. Thank you.
