Corey, 100 words, 20 minutes

Rate: 6 Flag

I awoke one day to find myself in Boston; I’m still here. I’m told that Memphis is my birthplace and I lived my first 18 months in a Mississippi RFD near Byhalia.

I want to wake up somewhere else (not Mississippi). I’d rather awake up in New York. I want to replace the Charles with the Seine. I want a morning run in Tuscany, to write in San Francisco, and to lust in Barcelona. I miss caring about Red Sox baseball.  Language, music, documentary film: essential. My father is dead; my stepfather haunts my nightmares.

I want to wake up next to her.

We should all agree on a universal tag like "100 words" to make these easier to find, no?
Beautiful work Corey. I would like to wake up and take a jog in Central Park...
Thoughtful as usual, Corey. I hope you dust off that passport and get going.

The pass port is dusty, COS. What I really need is an EU passport so I can get a job. When I wake up in these places, I don't want it to be a carboard box. Ha!
Great post. It tells me a lot about you and your wanderlust.
100 words, hmmm interesting, i like it
For me an unstructured life isn't pleasant. A too structured life isn't pleasant either. Hate to cite the overworked word, balance, but what can one do? The premise of structure works beautifully when applied to a loosey goosey effort like writing. 100 words, 20 minutes. Good scheme.
