Each day of Advent, beginning on December 1, is marked with a special calendar. The calendar, whether is is made of paper, cloth, wood or Legos, has numbered doors that correspond to each day, one through twenty-four. Day by day the doors are opened to reveal a small toy, a piece of chocolate in a Christmas-themed shape, or some other small prize.
December 1: Tiled Roof in Lisbon, Portugal
This is my holiday present to you, my OS family - an Advent calendar with an image for each day. I hope that you will enjoy stopping by to see what every door opening reveals to you.

Oh, and that's quite a cool photo, too. Funny you should pick such a topic for your Day 1. I've been to Lisbon twice myself, though only once to get out. The first time I was there I was just flying through and touched down at the airport while the airplane picked up passengers. Although I didn't think to snap a picture, I remember just about the entirety of my impression of the country was formed by having seen some pretty red roofs. :) It was great to later return and find there were more things to see and some really great people to meet. Eu gostei muito o meu tempo lá e desejo voltar algum dia.
Pilgrim, thank you. I hope you have a wonderful time with it. Enjoy!

This is an awesome idea here.
Cannot wait to see more.
Better than chocolate here. I can keep enjoying it, day after day..
Well, almost better than chocolate.
FusunA, the count is on for sure! I hope that there will be more images to come that you enjoy!
Mission, this may not have all the awesomeness of chocolate but I hope it does feed the soul. And who knows, maybe some will show up?
Michael, thanks, long time no see (and it's good to see you). As time goes on I start to see and realize that there are certain common experiences and ways of expressing our humanity that appear across many cultures. I'm delighted that you found a similarity here.
Gabby, this is my gift to you! If you want, you can come up with captions. I think that would be fun!
Thanks so much Kent for pointing me this way.
