Woman and Man

Rate: 14 Flag
Palm Frond in Sunlight. Photograph Copyright (c) 2011 CoyoteOldStyle.

Man has conquered air and space
The vast reaches of open water
Ocean depths and icy steppes,
The frozen wastelands,
The farmers' plains
And sky-scratching mountains.
Earth contains no explosive eureka moment.
But the fire of a woman's tears,
The ache of a thousand miles
Of physical distance bridged only by
The power of words, the clarity of feeling,
This cannot be quenched by other than
Your arms, your lips,
The tapestry of emotions.

Student, thank you for coming by and for the nice words.
Oh, this is so good! Your words fan out, like the plant in the photograph: "Earth contains no explosive eureka moment" because it cannot box up, constrain, or limit inspiration, like this--even when that inspiration finds perfect metaphor in being held.

Just Wow, COS!
Pilgrim, thanks so much. I often wonder if we know how amazing our lives are, how much we touch each other and what those effects are. Good to see you!
