Turkey Stuffing # 1
This is the turkey stuffing I used last time for Christmas Dinner in Mexico. I first heard of it on the UK. I decided to use cornbread instead of old bread and I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
It's a meat stuffing, so be warned! When stuffing the turkey make… Read full post »
Winter
The cold air seeps into the streets of San Luis Obispo as soon as the sun goes down. Higuera street lights up with countless booths, people pack the few blocks, walking, looking, talking and buying everything from fresh vegetables to salmon.
The air smells of food, ribs, chicken, chinese, tacos, tama… Read full post »
SLO Chai Tea

As we know Chai tea comes mainly from India, and thanks to the British love for tea, it is wide-spread around the world today, and millions of people drink it every day.
This spicy tea has transformed into several new forms besides the

The Cortez Family Farms
Hello everyone, and welcome again to the SLO(w) Food
Experience!
As always I managed to steal some time from our busy friends at the
market! This time I interviewed Antonio Cortez of the Cortez
Farms.

Antonio and his family have been farmers in the Santa Maria/San Luis Obispo areas for…
About the Farmers' Markets
Some people that haven't had the experience might ask why it is
so different to go to a Farmers' Market than simply going to your
local supermarket.
There are of course several answers to this, from “you have
to see it yourself” to slightly longer ones. But for those
out there that… Read full post »
Morro Bay Oysters

Oak Hill Mushrooms
If you like mushrooms (and let's face it, what kind of person with taste-buds doesn't?) then you must make a stop at the “Oak Hill Mushrooms” booth at the San Luis Obispo Farmer's Market. It's a fact.

The booth, managed by Tim French, is straight to the point.… Read full post »
Chaparral Gardens Artisan Vinegars

One of the first booths that caught my attention at the Farmers' Market was the “Chaparral Gardens Artisan Vinegars” under the care of Craig Clark.
The name says it all, really, since these vinegars truly are a work of art: from growing and picking the ingredients… Read full post »
The first post!
Hello and welcome to my new blog “The SLO(w) Food Experience"!
I just recently moved to San Luis Obispo, and one of the many things that struck me is the sense of community that I have experienced here. It is decidedly different from living in a huge city, and let's… Read full post »
