Twas the day after Thanksgiving and boredom reigned supreme. Not a movie on cable, nor a show that wasn't repeats could sway the path of the Boredom Train. It barreled through the house, disturbing the peace of the place and steamed into the station known as My Mind.
The Boredom Train attacks frequently, as it seems to be on a very short, round track. I am an easily distracted person, but with an amazing attention span when I find something that I like to do. Unfortunately, most of the things that I like to do are expensive, and thus, prohibited by The Chancellor of the Exchequer, also known as my bank account. So, I am ever in quest of things to do that can be done with minimal expenditure and/or with stuff already on hand.
Earlier this week, I designed and help install a mantle in the living room. Nope, no fireplace, just a mantle. It's beautiful, but that project only burned up two days of the week. The great thing about the mantle project was that had a zero out of pocket expense. Even the paint was free, as I got it from Glidden Paint during one of their paint give aways.
So, here I am, on the day after Thanksgiving, which is also known as Black Friday. I didn't spend a cent today, as I don't participate in consumer madness and made up sales with pseudo savings. And I didn't stay home, either, but when to the home of one of my sons for Thanksgiving Friday Dinner, which was very good. I have worked retail before, and been unfortunate enough to have to work Black Friday. Those people are nuts! I don't want to be part of that kind of madness. I have enough of my own without buying into other's version of it, too.
But, I am bored. I am having a movie inflicted on me as I am in the living room, with the fiance, and he's watching the movie. I have years of experience at ignoring background noise, probably from raising children, so I can ignore the movie. I've already put up 2 Yule Trees in the house, so I don't have that to distract me. I don't have the little hangers that I need to put lights up in the house, so that isn't an option and there's currently nothing that I have an overriding desire to go bake. Maybe tomorrow, when the fiance goes out to replace the air nozzle on the compressor, I will have him get me a gallon of whole milk. Then, I will make more mozarella cheese. Until then, I sit, typing about boredom, and finding that even that doesn't alleviate the entire problem, but it is a great momentary distraction.

That Boredom Train is incredibly long and tenacious.
