Rude Posts

Rate: 2 Flag

There is nothing quite as disappointing as finding out that a comment on your post is nothing more than some rude person spamming their wares. Oh, this is aggravating.  Now, I may not know how to remove people who comment with a spam advertisement, but I do know that if I make enough noise about it, hopefully Open Salon will put an end to it.

My writing venue is NOT your advertising venue. If you have a business to advertised PAY FOR YOUR OWN SPACE and stop invading my space.  It really blows to find things like True Religion jeans (as if, and yes, that's the one that showed up this time and I am sure you know who you are and are hanging your head in shame... if you even know how to feel shame) as a comment on a post.

Unfortunately this has been going on for a long time. OS has been given loads of sound advice containing easy fixes they can do on their end but they don't seem to be interested.

As Bonnie says, click on the "More" button under "Hello CZPhoenix" in the upper right hand corner. Select "Manage Posts." That will bring you to a screen where then you will choose "Manage Comments" on the side bar. A list of the comments on your posts will come up. Select the comment that contains the ridiculous spam and delete it. It'll give you a warm and fuzzy feeling of power.
Yes. I have been advocating deleting the spam for a time now. They ruin the comments and bring the post down.
Even harder to stomach than spam, which is difficult enough, are the people who leave a dissing comment on your blog and have the nerve to ask your commenters to go read their blogs.

That is reprehensible.
Everybody gets them. It's a matter of deleting them regularly as instructed above. The editors and tech people do what they can to keep them down, but they're still a fact of life here. Just delete them.
Thank you for instructing me in out to delete them. They still irritate me, though. It's just plain bad manners to do things like that.
