(aka Josephine Elizabeth Ortez, Josie Ortez) I am 61 years young, a performance artist, writer and painter (oils) I live with my Dalmatian doggie 3 cats and 2 goldfish. I am happy despite my best efforts to the contrary. I am of Native American, Mexican, German, Irish English ethnicity. A DAKINI is a semi wrathful spirit woman from the Tibetan Buddhism tradition who manifests in dreams, visions and during meditation. She is the Goddess of Life's turning points, serving as instigator, inspirer, messenger and even trickster. She transmutes suffering into enlightened awareness. She is often depicted as a young naked figure in dancing pose often holding a skull cup of the Elixir of Life in one hand and a curved knife in the other. She may wear a garland of human skulls, her hair is wild and hangs down her back. She dances on top of a corpse, representing her mastery over ego and ignorance. MAY ALL BEINGS BE HAPPY!

Opus Final Panel

Rate: 8 Flag

Very comforting. I especially liked (from last week) the doggie from the shelter getting to do to the tropical paradise - I had a feeling that would happen. May All Beings Be Happy!

Thanks for the reminder. May he sleep and dream in unearthly colors.......
Awww...how sad and adorable. Opus having a good night after all those years. It feels like Opus and crew have been a part of my life since I was a little kid first reading the Sunday comics in the 80s.

It's like the story of the Lorax, where the environment brought him as the conscience of the fish and the trees and the barbaloot bears but the eventual demise of the environment caused him to lift himself by the seat of his pant and disappear.

Opus could no longer tolerate the poisonous environment so he's gone to bed and will sleep.

Sweet dreams, Opus.
Oh, no, nooo, don't you get it? Opus has become REAL! The Velveteen Rabbit sitting next to the bed ... there's the big clue!

I've been unable to read Opus' final letter because the site has been so busy today. It's driving me crazy.
In the last cartoons for the Sunday papers, Steve Dallas
goes to the pile of Opus's stuff, it's all glowey, and in
his sunglasses can be seen Opus's reflection - not as
in the "Goodnight Moon panel" but like he's looking
directly at Steve. OPUS LIVES!
Opus will always live for me, as will Bill the Cat. Possibly one of the finest cartoons I've ever had the pleasure of following.

I'm sorry I didn't get to know you. Lovely, isn't it, that we can leave these clues to ourselves? Sparks of life and laughter, scattered to the winds. May those who loved you find you here when they need you most. Peace.
