Remember when Republicans were all bent out of shape over hip hop lyrics that "advocated" killing cops? Tupac, et al., took a lot of heat, and the condemnation went all the way to President Bush. President Bush attacked rap music that he said glorifies killing police - "sick". "I stand against those who use films, or records, or television or video games to glorify killing law enforcement officers," Bush said at a dedication of a new Drug Enforcement Administration field headquarters in Manhattan. "It is wrong for any company - I don't care how noble the name . . . to issue records that approve of killing the law enforcement officers."
Fast forward to today.
Nine right wing, white, Christian militia members have been arrested, not for lyrics that talked about cop killing in an artistic expression context, but for actually planning to kill real police officers! And where is the criticism from Republican lawmakers now? Nowhere.
But the right believes that advocating killing is okay now, especially if it is aimed at that foreign born, Muslim, terrorist, commie, negro bastard in the White House or his friends.

The guy with the placard seems to have fear-based notion of liberty.
Nan shoots ants near targets on a designated firing range - this guy is in a crowd of people. Anything could go wrong in his brain at any moment, and by then it will be too late for at least six people.
I remember seeing him on the news at the time, and I said to my mom, ' aren't you glad I chose you, and not that guy's mother ?'
No-one's safe with laws that say that kind of display is ' freedom.'
Great post Dana. Best wishes from a safe distance.
I mean, we'd want to check out the root causes in the latter case, which probably implicates those lefty elitists bent of creating the government "big enough to take everything you have".
Root causes re the rappers? Nah, they're just evil, depraved types.
