This president still can't get it out of the infield. I would have liked to hear him announce something bold along with the end of the war. Something like:
"Now that combat operations in Iraq have come to an end, it is vital that we turn to the problems we face on our own shores. That is why, today, I am announcing a major new jobs initiative, where every penny that we have been spending in Iraq will now go directly to putting Americans back to work. We have already been spending the money abroad -- more than $10 billion per month for seven years. If it's good enough to spend that money abroad on a war of opportunity, it is far better to spend it on putting Americans back to work and rebuilding our infrastructure. Make no mistake, this is not a new expenditure that will add more to the deficit. Instead, we are taking the same ongoing money that President Bush and Congress sent overseas, and we are bringing it back home, where it will go directly to employing two million Americans, beginning next month."
Something like that is what I would have like to have heard. Instead, all I heard was the same bullshit rhetoric. Oh, and btw, that whole "we have to honor those who served in Iraq" bit apparently doesn't extend to the LGBT Americans who served, and who lost their lives and limbs in that war. He continues to exclude that group of Americans.

Just imagine all the GOOD that could be done with that ten billion per month, and how many Americans could be put back to work, and how many new industries could be started, and how much energy independence we could achieve. Just imagine. And then write the White House.

Doesn't anyone remember the original stimulus...a group of Senators led by Susan Collins stripped billions in infrastructure and other funds and put in tax cuts. Everyone complained the stimulus bill was too big...now it was too little.
They say, he promised to close Guantanamo. Congress cut off the funding and passed a bill to block the closing.
DADT...he can't issue an Executive Order to "overturn" an existing law.
Noirville says he would only give money to Wall Street or GM. What would you have him do with a system tied into the world economy, particularly when there was no authority to break the companies up. Besides, almost all of the bailout money has been repaid...we made interest! I suggest you read this post to get a better understanding about bailouts...it is based on facts, not opinions: http://open.salon.com/blog/fay_paxton/2010/04/18/sarah_palin_and_the_tea_party_need_an_economics_lesson
For those of you who are disappointed, be disappointed in yourselves. You yelled, donated and voted, then went home and let the Tea Party drown your Hope.
I think you want a dictator, not a President.
