I have always tended to take the road less traveled. Sometimes I get lost; sometimes the road is under construction; and sometimes the road leads nowhere or everywhere. Regardless of my choices, I always learn, and never regret the journey.

For those of you who are not familiar with this poetic form (and I suspect there are many), here is a brief description:

SENRYU

A senryu is a three line Japanese poem structurally similar to haiku. It is unrhymed and the subject is based on human nature. It is usually satirical or ironic.

line 1 - 5 syllables

line 2 - 7 syllables

line 3 - 5 syllables

Kindness is viral.

Spread by random acts of love,

Watch the ripple grow.

Love has no limits

 It is both the beginning

And the finale

Curiosity

Can move you forward or back

 Mysteriously

 Friendship is a gift

That will continue giving

 If it goes both ways

Dave! These are remarkable! Thank you. R.
nice stuff, Dave. Tell me about the picture, please!
Such beautiful words, you are a master of this form.
You have inspired me.
That picture is so adorable.
Gratitude for this
Like the Haiku, it just flows
in and out like waves.
You made my lunch hour so much nicer with these poems. And the picture.
Dave (and Dorieann) - Thanks for introducing us to yet another poetry form. I am really enjoying these ALOT. I've copy and pasted your blog onto my desktop and I'm going to mess with this and see what comes up. THANKS! msp
Dave, where did I miss all this in school?

I love learning new things about writing forms. Reading you always reminds me of how much I don't know about these things :)

This could be addictive. Where were you when...? Rx10.
Dave ..these are soooo good. Thanks for heads up..had no idea!
Thank you for educating us NON-poets in the form... helps me understand just what I am reading...
Wow, Dave I love your quad of 4 lovely senryu. I will have to try one about human nature...less the satire. Love, love, love, love (1 for each) and the picture is adorable! -R-
You make the magic
The poems that we all can share
And still understand.

Good stuff here, I like the topics too. R
Dave, these are just wonderful! Really, really good!

I hope I can find some time to try this form. I've just been so very busy the last week or so with work. And I'm just gearing myself up to start another busy day here ... down under! But first, my morning dose of OS first!
beauty and philosophy...love it! Thanks D2's!!!! Love these, Dave! R
I like the Senryu. It is not as hard to do as some of the others and it's easy to understand.
I agree with Kateasly I am learning about poetry but I don't see the satire or ironic here.
Hi Dave. I especially like Curiosity. It's special, when a word fulfills something of the form all by itself.
"Curiousity" is the best of the four. An original take.

I am learning new types of poems here; yours are very nice, Dave. Thank you! ~R
It's interesting that in the first the movement is outward, but in the other three it is back and forth. I think "Curiosity" is particularly delightful. Good job!
I'm working on it. It isn't as easy as it looks. Yours flow.
I loved them all. R
