As you can see this is quite different from the Joan Crawford classic we all know and love as he's gone back to the James M. Cain original. Clearly Todd is taking up from where he left off with "Far From Heaven" but in a different mode. It's a period film (the 40's) without "quotes" around it, as he did when "sampling" Sirk. With opera it seems Visconti is on his mind. Patty Clarkson makes a great Eve Arden and the chameleon-like Guy Pearce an ideal Zachary Scott. In a word, YUM!
