Today former Prime Minister Tony Blair, a man I used to admire, testified before a commission investigating the events in the run-up to the Iraq war.
Protesters demonstrated outside, many of them calling for Blair's arrest for leading Britain into an illegal war. Such an arrest seems unlikely but I wish it would happen, in part to bring attention to the culpability of George W. Bush in starting this war. If Blair were led away in handcuffs, the American people would be reminded of the special relationship that existed between Bush and Blair and perhaps persuaded that our former President would be Blair's ideal cellmate.
I am sure that Bush can sleep at night without worrying about being tried for war crimes but imagine if you will, if the party politics of this issue were reversed and Bush had been a Democratic President with the Republicans now in charge. How likely is it that the Republicans would allow such an opportunity to get away from them? I think they would pursue his prosecution for war crimes with all the vigor they pursued Clinton for sexual scandals.

Live with the frustration...but be realistic.

Yours is simply a humane notion of justice.
Well done, rated.
With the world as it is, this is really a "what if" scenario. Blair was at least made to attend the inquiry and answer questions, though most experts think the questions should have been tougher. It was gratifying to see that he did look uncomfortable. Families of dead soldiers were given priority on tickets to watch his testimony.
Still, his arrogance was breathtaking. He has no regrets.
And Scanner you're right that deal was done long before the official announcement to invade. Thoth, there really is no justice.
