Magnetic field lines shown byiron filings. The field lines are not precisely the same as the isolated magnet; the magnetization of the filings alters the field somewhat.

Magnetic fields surround magnetic materials and electric currents and are detected by the force they exert on other magnetic materials and moving electric charges. The magnetic field at any given point is specified by both a direction and a magnitude (or strength); as such it is a vector field.[1]

No, wait, this is a MUSICAL group, sorry folks!, here is a bit about The Magnetic Fields:
As a group, they have been singing together since the early '90s. Stephin Merritt, the main vocal singer, resides in New York City. He records and produces his own music and is quite talented at playing various instruments and is adept at computer music programming.
In 2002, Merritt signed a record deal with Nonesuch Record company. His first album is titled, "i" and came out in 2004.
A more recent album which came out the summer of '08, is "Distortion". Here is what he has to say about it:
"This is my most commercial record in a way. Some audience members may be completely and immediately turned off but, I figure, if you find it too loud, just turn it down and it will sound quite pretty."
    — Stephin Merritt
I just listened to "Distortion" and, it DOES need to be turned down. There is a lot of feedback and sounds laid over the actual music. I don't recommend this album. I will stick with the "old" Stephin Merritt for now.
Give this a listen and tell me what you think, and, PLEASE give me a rate!
Thanks,

Love that cello piece, listen for it.

It's Only Time~The Magnetic Fields

Why would I stop loving you
a hundred years from now?
It's only time.
It's only time.

What could stop this beating heart
once it's made a vow?
It's only time.
It's only time.

If rain won't change your mind,
let it fall.
The rain won't change my heart
at all.

Lock this chain
around my hand,
throw away the key.
It's only time.
It's only time.

Years falling
like grains of sand
mean nothing to me.
It's only time.
It's only time.

If snow won't change your mind
let it fall.
The snow won't change my heart,
not at all.

(I'll walk your lands)
I'll walk your lands
(And swim your sea)
And swim your sea

Marry me.
Marry me.

(Then in your hands)
Then in your hands
(I will be free)
I will be free

Marry me.
Marry me.

Okay, I'll post the first comment...have a good weekend, OS family!
The melody, the cello the mood is really nice. 1/2 step down in the key brings it to beauty. ~R~
Thank you, Chuck. You have such a sensitive ear and kind heart!
Have a great weekend!

Wow. This was great. I loved the flow and the peace. I really needed this today. Thank you so much Debbs4. Big hugs.

Just beautiful - so lovely on the hearing. FYI - I took music appreciation in college, so I was taught to listen for all the instruments in an orchestra. Absolutely lovely to listen to, this piece you've shared.

Have a peaceful weekend!

Very good work. Great lyrics.
Thank you, dear Prof E. A very happy weekend to you!

Rather than listen to your version on computer I did one better and borrowed all of their music from a friend and played back random cuts from each on my Real Bang/Olfsun music reproduction system which has the ability to play music as if you were there or also has the ability to make you feel like you are getting a wedgie while sitting down. Great music, although the last a little to commercial for my taste but still very good. Nice post, and to you and your family my best from ours. Good to here from you. older/exasperated
O/E, did you really borrow the music and listen to it on your Bang and O system? That's great if you did, and, thank you for going to the trouble.
Not sure about the wedgie comment, what was that all about???
My best to you and your dear family!!!
Yes Debbdear I did, I listen to music constantly. The wedgie part means that my B/O system can deliver music in incredible decibels if you so desire or wish to become deaf instantaneously. The wedgie part was creative writing. ( wedgie is an effective tool my wife has procured to get my attention rather quickly also)
Wow, O/E, so what is your fav type of music??? I am dying to know!
Thanks JD, nice to see you here!
Have a great weekend!
Turn it down, you got to be kidding. Reminds me of a few Beatles songs with the horns and harps coming in and out. Excellent as a song, great as a poem!!
Thank you, Scanner. Glad you like Stephin Merritt's song of love.
Have a great love-filled week!
