I'm a political analyst and cultural voyeur & usually write about when those two things merge. I'm an amateur mother, a professional reader and excel in generalized anxiety, although sadly there is very little reimbursement for that particular skill. And of course, I love books & dogs.

My Own Private Taliban

Rate: 16 Flag

                              Throwing bible creeds

at me, like my own private

                              taliban.  I glare.

                                                                         Your glass house back lit

I see you clenched & righteous

                                                                         tossing stones at me.

These are excellent.

If I take them literally and I am a little, allow me to say, I'm sorry this is happening to you.
Deborah,

I must agree with Andy Heizeler. I would also add that this is very original and very clever.

Great to see you posting again. Short, sweet, to the point.

Reminds me of a term I read recently "Talibaptists"
The most powerful piece in this for me is: I glare. I feel you here.
the little books, the little biblios- used by cretins all over, with some of the worst here in our homeland ... I grew up in Lahaina and Hana, Kiawe thorns on the beach, planted by taliban to make us wear shoes; jesus coming soon in neon all night, most of Hana in church on Sunday- the virgin mary on the road the giant cross looks down on us; a constant reminder of missionaries who came to do "good" and did quite well.

AUWE
I grow very weary of Bible-thumping fundamentalists who give the rest of us Christians a bad name. Seems to me they need to remember the teachings of the man who they claim to venerate.

Very nicely done.
Grand. Poweful and hard.

A testament to ALL organized religions.
