We all need one...a vacation...once in awhile! Why, well, if I have to explain that to you, it's either been too long or you never do relax anyway.
So, when I had the opportunity to get away from the everyday routine, working from home...usually planted in front of my computer for 12-16 hours a day, I did! My senses needed to be refreshed and I gave my computer a rest as well, only spending a scant few minutes, here and there, to catch up on email. Having a balanced life is what it's all about...other countries besides the United States seem to understand that, even if our employers frown on us taking more than a week at a time.
When I lived in Germany for four years and traveled back and forth across the "Big Pond", I encountered many Europeans either going on or returning from an extended holiday...at least three weeks, often as much as two months! I was jealous; even though I was not fully employed while overseas, neither I nor my (then) AF hubby could get more than two weeks in a row to go away.
This ties into not only our sensibilities but, more importantly, our sensuality. Humans are very sensual 'animals'; we often deny it to ourselves...mostly due to puritanical precepts, but the reason really doesn't matter. On the far end of that spectrum, we may overindulge in sensuality...going to places called, quite literally, Hedonism...a resort to get totally lost in your senses. I've never been there personally, but I'd love to find out how many of my senses I can blow out!
On the other hand, vacation could be one of cerebral pursuits...or spiritual. Part of my last one included a VERY intense spiritual retreat which was one part metaphysical emersion and one part enlightenment. We focused mostly on the sense that most people neglect the most, the sixth one...our psychic ability. I'll leave that to your imagination...or ask me privately. Suffice it to say, we all have unused or underused senses, but the sixth one is rarely developed...or actively ignored by the masses. Too bad, it is my belief that all the rest of the senses can be heightened by 'enlightening' this one.
I'm promising...myself...to publish more frequently here AND visit all of the great OS blogs that I am tracking!

I'd love to see a post(maybe you could do this?) on a vacation which could--or has-- combine(d) the sensual, erotic(great sex, food, etc.) WITH spiritual and cerebral pursuits.
I mean, being a woman, I kinda like ALL my senses, uh, stoked.(that's stoked, not "stroked", commenter-named-scanner.Just teasin' ya.)
