Single and loving it? The Juicy Crone is…and proud to say it! Of course, that doesn't negate the other, ehem, label…polyamorous.
The term polyamorous is greatly misunderstood, as has previously been posted here on deLuvDoc's blog. It got its name from combining the preface for many (poly) and loving (amorous), hence the most broad definition, having (or capable of having) many loves.
So, you may be asking, how can one still refer to oneself as having many loves when one has clearly stated that one has none? Simply stated…or restated…one remains CAPABLE of having many loves even if none is presently accounted for.
Let's turn this concept around: if you are single, does that mean that you are no longer capable of having lovers (or for monogamous types, a lover)? Of course not. That would be ridiculous. The same would be true if you were current unmarried.
Once again we arrive at this new-er concept of what is polyamory and how does one relate to a world that seems to hold the belief that we are supposed to have only one lover/partner at a time? The Juicy Crone has discussed this, at length, with many in both 'communities' and has come to the conclusion that each of us is predisposed to desiring a love bond with either one or many others. Talking about this seems to have little to do with the current state of one's romantic situation.
Taking yet another angle on this whole concept, many wise people have proposed a radical concept: we must first love ourselves before we can really love another. Using this as a basis of discussion, no one who claims to be capable of love…regardless of how many or few may be in one's life at this moment…can be 'monogamous', since our 'primary' love-bond would be with ourselves. Radical, I know!
Hence, ergo sum, the Juicy Crone is happily complete and in loving relationship herself as a single woman capable of having multiple loving relationships…should they present themselves, in the future. Each of us can be happy and feel complete…and mostly importantly, in love, with ourselves.
Loving Being Poly-single,
The Juicy Crone, aka deLuvDoc
