Back on May 17, 2009 I posted the following:
In the old days looking for a boyfriend or girlfriend often meant hanging out at any number of bars and hoping you'd meet the person of your dreams. There was always a chance that the person you thought was the man or woman of your dreams turns out to be a nightmare waiting to happen, as in Looking for Mr. Goodbar.

Below: old school bar and bartender.

It seems clear to me that Apple knew all along that it's Genius Bars would turn out to be just more than a place to take your broken iPod or MacBook. Just take a look at what is the new bar scene for the 21st Century and consider the positive attributes of this new bar scene:
- see your possible new mate under pleasant, bright lighting and not in an smoky environment of minimal lighting while under the influence of alcohol
- meet other geeks, not just 0ther alcoholics
- zero in on people with enough money to own the latest 17" MacBook Pro
- discuss the latest iTunes additions and compare playlists
- talk about the worst computer crash you ever had
. . . I could go on and on, but I imagine you get the idea!
So have a look at some randomly selected Genius Bar photos and see where the best place to meet your new significant other may just be for you!

For the second part of the post I have shots from the Apple Store at Grand Central Station that I took recently. This particular store offers unparalled ways to meet a girlfriend/boyfriend compared with other Apple Stores I have visited. Start with the beauty and immense scale of Grand Central that already was an attraction for so many people over the decades and mix in a high tech store. Add in the many nearby bars and restaurants and the result is an urban environment that's tailor made for creating a romantic ambience!

Zooming into the area under the arch from the photo above and spotting customer happiness. Customer happiness has the potential to become love:

Let's zoom into the photo above for a closer look at one of the attentive Apple Geniuses...

Zooming in on the photo above, the fellow on the left is clearly more interested in the lady walking by than the MacBook Pro laptops on the table...

Zooming in across the room...

Remember the glittering mirrored balls of disco days? Here's the latest version that ironically predates disco!

Footnote: when three of us met (OEsheepdog, Redstocking Grandma, and moi) back in April 2010 in Grand Central (across the main concourse from the Apple Store) at Cipriani's, none of us could have predicted what was going to be coming to the opposite balcony that's now the location of the new Apple Store.

I think I'd love to go to a historian bar, myself.
Oh and I love your photos too - good observations and captions!
It seems so awful to me but I guess the smoky dark bars of yore were no hot shakes either. Still, I'd take meeting Mr Goodbar over this monstrosity.
Mary and CC--thank you both for the compliments on the photos, too!
Fernsy, like the NY State Lotto motto used to say: "Hey, you never know!"
Miguela, thanks very much and I hope she enjoys the post!
HUGGGGGGGGGG
being draped in a scarf with your undies showing is just, well, wrong
What a great post! Right now I don't have to look for men because they all seek me out on campus and in town. My guy friends keep telling me that there are many reasons why I'm so alluring and lovable, and they say that there is something about me that's irresistible.
Great pictures - I had no idea there was an Apple Store at Grand Central Station!
