@Marlene, glad you saw the your twin here and I really think Scanner is Jeff Bridges, he just won't come right out and admit it!

Back in beta days I had a post that mentioned the town where I live and Jeff Schult and Joan Walsh left the following comments that related to "That Girl:"
Jeff:
Brewster is where "That Girl" was from ...
Oy.
I also mentally call New Rochelle "Rob and Laura Land."

Jeff, that's so funny, my immediate association with Brewster was That Girl. It made the show seem so "real" to me, growing up in NY. I think That Girl and The Mary Tyler Moore Show were really influential in creating an image of single womanhood that was alluring and not scary. I never met my Donald, exactly, but I was thrilled to meet Ed Asner/Lou Grant a few years ago. But that's a whole 'nother blog post.
