In the process of assembling the series I have on my senior year at college I came across two Valentine's Day cards that were sent to me by an anonymous student that year.
In four years of art school Valentine's Day was a relatively minor day that a lot of us mostly ignored. Both of the cards I received were not mailed through the USPS, but rather handled through the RISD post office.
The handwriting was not that of my friend, Maria, and she was as curious about the cards as I was. Because our close relationship was under the radar as far as my classmates were aware of, I figured the secret admirer simply didn't know the full story of my personal life as of that point in time.
Tomorrow will be exactly 35 years since these two cards were received and yet the mystery of who sent them remains!
The carefully glued on letters of my name (and that included my last name, too) pointed to a classmate in graphics, yet no one came forward after the cards were sent to ask "So, did you like the two Valentine's Day cards I sent to you?"

The handwriting on the envelope looked similar to that of several of my classmates only adding to the mystery. The sender clearly a great sense of humor!

The message on the card contained a different looking handwriting script than the envelope, only adding to the mystery since this handwriting didn't remind me of any of my classmate's writing style.
"What garage did you have in mind?"

If I make it to my 35th reunion next October perhaps the veil of secrecy will be lifted after all of these years!
A Steve Miller top of the charts song, Rock'n Me, from that period of late '76 into early '77:
Note: the regular series on senior year will be continuing and I jumped ahead in the story only for this small part of the timeline in recognition of Valentine's Day tomorrow.
