Alysa is into many new favorite things as shown in her latest post below:

I'm into a few new things that also somewhat relate to old things and I have a photo essay here to show them....
As a segway to my previous post, I have a new favorite camera that I bought on Ebay at the beginning of the summer. A Yashica-Mat from the '60s that is the same model of camera that my classmate, Francesca Woodman, used in nearly all of her photos in school and in New York. Next month I plan to get busy taking some nature shots with black & white film which I also purchased at the start of the summer.

My new favorite Yashica-Mat as photographed this afternoon with my digital camera...
During the spring I came across a discussion thread on a photographic web site where the various photographers were discussing how to achieve a "Francesca Woodman look" to their photos. I was really fascinated to read the discussion because they went into a lot of detail about a photographer who didn't even use a light meter to determine the exposures for her shots.
Next new favorite things: a mannequin and a brand of b&w film I just purchased and will be evaluating next month:
The mannequin shows off two discs from season one of The L-Word that I posted about recently. One of the local libraries had season one and I watched five episodes which were interesting and about 180 degrees different from most TV shows I typically watch. Because my classmate, Ilene Chaiken was one of the creators of the series (she was also the subject of a recent post) I am calling The L-Word another new favorite. I have been wondering what Shakespeare would say about the series. Possibly, "Out, damned spot!" He may very well have been interested in watching stories eminating from LA., given how different they are from what was happening at the Globe Theater back in the day.
More shots here with my new mannequin....
