This fella.
2. Who was your FIRST love and do you still talk with him?
Lance Dunahoe.
In 3rd grade he called me up and asked me to go "steady" with him and I put the phone down and went into the next room and asked my father if I could. He said, "Tell Lance Dunahoe that you are too young but that he may ask again when you are in the 4th grade." Lance said, "AWwwww" but then he asked again the next year and I said "yes" and he was my boyfriend for years-- through the death of a beloved pet and the end of my parent's marriage and he remains the oldest, sweetest soul I have ever met.
3. What was your FIRST alcoholic drink?
7th grade. Champagne on New Year's Eve.
4. What was your FIRST job?
I cut, wrapped and sold sprigs (or boughs?) of misteltoe one Christmas. I must have been 9 or 10 and my mom just dropped me off, alone, in front of the Piggly-Wiggly with my box of misteltoe and a sign and then picked me up 3 or 4 hours later. I used every penny I earned to buy my family Christmas presents and I couldn't have been more proud. (My older sisters won't let their pre-teen daughters walk to the mailbox unattended and they cringe at that memory.)
5. What was your FIRST car?
A yellow '77 Cutlass Supreme that we called the Banana Boat. You had to pump the brakes for about a 1/4 mile before you wanted to actually stop. The only accident I have EVER had was in that clunker when the brakes finally gave out and I flew through a barbed wire fence somewhere in Fort Worth.
6. Who was the FIRST person to text you today?
The lovely Laurie.
7. Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning?
This fella.
8. Who was your first grade teacher?
The only Grammar school teacher that I didn't love to pieces-- Mrs. Stevens. She was an angry, angry woman. There was a bathroom incident..........I think Odette knows what I'm talking about, here.
9. Who was your best friend?
Also the answer to "who was your first sleepover?" Nancy Neblett. My best friend from age 3 to age 10. She is a lamb and I love her to bits to this day, although I haven't seen her in a few years.
10. Whose wedding were you in for the first time?
My mother's wedding to my step-father when I was 12.
11. What was the first thing you did this morning?
Stretch. Daydream. Cuddle up in the pillows for a few more minutes. I love the bed-- it's one of my favorite places. I 100% do not get those people who claim to get by on only 3-4 hours sleep and are all fired up on 8 cylinders, 20 hours a day all productive as hell. Those people make me sleepy.
What was the question?
12. First concert?
The Police. I nearly hyperventilated, I was so excited.
13. The first state you lived in:
Illinois
14. The first movie you remember seeing:
Watership Down with Nancy Neblett. We had nightmares about it for months...
15. If you had three wishes, what would the FIRST one be?
Loka sumasta sukhino, bhavantu-- that all beings everywhere be happy and free.
Ha!
Secondly, I wish that I hadn't agreed to be a hair model for my friend yesterday because I began the day looking like yogi, au natural and ended it looking like a pole dancer.
Aaarggghhhh!!!!!!

You cracked me up with the hair model ...pictures?
Cartush, Harp, Robin: thanks for coming by, ya'll.
Oh, and 5 washes later it's still garish but boy is it ever SHINY.
Sleep? Societal obsession with "productivity" may dictate that most of us take pride in operating as sleep-deprived zombies. Unfortunately, biology hasn't evolved us that quickly. Before Edison's invention of the electric bulb, people paid attention to their bio-rythms and went to bed when night fell, in order to get the REQUIRED 8 hours of sleep for maximum health and mental function. Snooze away, girl!
And...hair-stylist friends are the worst...I've kept my locks short all of my life and have never had to say, "No, thank you." (be assured, I would have) ;0)

Elena: Ahhhh, you know this! It's actually part of a larger prayer that we do before any group yoga class. It begins with:
Saha navavatu, Saha nau bhunaktu, Saha veeryam khadvaahai
translation: may we work together uniting our strength for the good of humanity. (It's an auspicous beginning:)
Melissa: I agree. Now where is yours, girl?
Mamoore: It seems to me that you are certainly doing your part to increase the peace. Peace to you:)
Hi, Teddybaby. My little Trotsky is a rat-terrier mix and 13 lbs of pure love. And yes, that madmen program was fun. I'm lovin my new look, thanks:)

I'd love to see yours.
I love reading these "firsts" -- they're revealing in such a good way! The "Lance" story is way cute, & I can so visualize the Banana Boat. Also -- I had a bathroom incident in first grade, too, but my teacher was nice.
Since you asked . . .
We weren’t planning on doing it, but Rolling prodded us, so we complied :-)

Yeah those people who sleep only 3-4 hours a night make us 5-6 hour sleepers look bad!
Starryeyed: Well, if you had a regular job you might get more than 5 hours sleep, you know? And I owe you an email....I suck, I know.
I wish you were here.
Corgigirl, where have you been and where is your FIRST post? I'd love to read that, girl. So nice to see you again.
I love my bed too, after reading this realized I did most of my writing, reading in bed with the computer propped on my stomach (with brown burn marks on my left thigh where the machine heats up and singes the skin) or propped on my stomach writing
